Interestingly, he has been able to lured more than One- Hundred (100) women to bed through this trick; he confessed.

Whiles many who fell for the trick paid him between GHc 4000 to Ghc 6,100 .

However, luck eluded him and was arrested by Police SWAT team and National Security in his hideout in Accra on Friday, January 25,2019.

He’s currently before the Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters Accra, Intelligence Unit’ for further investigations.

The police as well as the National Security is therefore calling on the general public to be vigilant in dealing with such people

Dagbon was founded by a warrior called Tohazie (Red Hunter) who hailed from Zamfara in Northern Nigeria from the 1400s to 1600s.

Tohazie was a very brave hunter who mastered the art of archery. On arrival in the Mali Empire, he settled in a village in the middle of a drought. The only source of water for the people was a river that was taken over by a wild bush cow that terrorised and killed the people.

Tohazie led the people to kill the wild beast, making the river accessible. He also organised the people and successfully waged war on rival villagers.

For his bravery and assistance to the people, Tohazie was rewarded with a Malian princess, Pagawubga, for a wife and fathered a son, Kpogon-umbo.

Kpogon-umbo

After serving briefly in Mali, Kpogon-umbo and his followers came into conflict with the rising Songai Empire in western Africa and reprisal attacks from the Songhai compelled Kpogon-umbo and his followers southward.

Kpogon-umbo later seized power and ruled over Biun in Gurma. His son, Naa Gbewaa (or Bawa) left Biun with some of his followers to settle at Pusiga in the north-eastern part of Ghana where he ruled until he died.

Three brothers, three kingdoms

In Pusiga, the chieftaincy of the Kingdom of Greater Dagbon became known as ‘Nam’, which was the preserve of the male children of Naa Gbewaah.

His son, Zirili, succeeded him, but succession disputes among three of Zirili’s younger brothers – Tohagu, Mantambo and Sitobu – led to the kingdom’s demise.

The three moved southwards from Pusiga with their followers. Tohagu founded the Mamprusi Kingdom, Mantambo the Nanung Kingdom and Sitobu the modern Dagbon Kingdom.

This is the reason why the people of Mamprugu, Nanung and Dagbon consider one another as brothers because they share the same ancestry in Naa Gbewaah.

A daughter of Naa Gbewaah, Yentuagri, married a Grumah and together, they established the Moshi Kingdom.

Sitobu subsequently settled briefly at Gambaga before moving south to Namburugu, near Karaga, where he founded the modern Dagbon state.

Sitobu’s son, Naa Nyagsi (1416-1432) who succeeded him, embarked on a war of expansion and established his capital at Yani Dabari in Diyali near Tamale where he developed a stable political organisation by enskinning his sons, brothers and uncles as rulers over his subjects.

18th century and Second Kingdom (1700–1888)

In about 1700, the capital was relocated from Yani Dabari to a new city also known as Yani (Yendi) in the east because of incessant wars with neighbours.

Naa Nyagsi was later succeeded by many chiefs, including Naa Zangina who in 1713, defeated his neighbours at Sang near Yendi.

Not only is Naa Zangina reputed to be the first Muslim ruler of Dagbon, but is also credited with encouraging trade with neighbours.

With the relocation of the capital to Yani and the return of peace, a Muslim community emerged at the Yaa Naa’s palace at Yendi. A group of Mande origin, led by Sabali-Yarla, and some Hausa Muslims, led by Kamshe Naa, propagated Islam in the kingdom by becoming the Yaa Naa’s Mallams who led him in prayers. Titles were given to the various Muslim clerics at the palace such as the WalguNaa, the Nayil Liman and the Yidan Kambala.

The extension of trade with the Dyula, and later with the Hausa, linked the Dagbon state with neighbouring kingdoms such as the Fezzan of Egypt and the Bight of Benin. And by 1788, Yendi had established one of the biggest markets in West Africa.

Because of its closeness in culture with other Sahelian neighbours such as the Mossi Kingdom, the Mali and Songhai Empires and the Hausa Bakwai in Nigeria, Dagbon became a major trading partner in salt, kola nuts and slaves.

Colonisation (1888–1957)

In 1888, Dagbon became part of a neutral zone stretching from Yeji to Yendi, that was established to forestall conflict between the Germans and the British. The area was later partitioned between the two powers, and Yendi came under German control, thus separating the Yaa Naa from his people in the west.

In 1896, the Germans clashed with the Dagombas at the Battle of Adigbo and the latter, who could not withstand the sophisticated weapons of the Germans, were defeated.

Split kingdom

In 1899, the British and the Germans split Dagbon between German Togoland and the Gold Coast.

Following World War I, eastern Dagbon became part of the British-administered mandated territories established by the League of Nations and reunited with the west, allowing the Yaa Naa to resume control of his people.

The British implemented indirect rule, in which Dagomba chiefs were made to administer local government structures and this policy perpetuated Dagomba dominance over minority tribes. The British largely neglected the economic development of Dagbon. To pay the head tax the British imposed, the people had to migrate to southern Gold Coast to work in mines and on cocoa plantations.

The Kingdom of Dagbon enjoyed a distinct constitutional position before it became part of the Ashanti Kingdom and British Togoland.

Dagbon today

Today, the Gbewaa Palace remains at Yendi. The kingdom is divided into territorial chiefdoms, categorised into divisional and village chieftaincies. There are three major ‘Nam’ Gates reserved for the sons of former Yaa Naas. They are Karaga, Savelugu and Mion, which occupancy qualifies one to contest for the Namship, or head chiefdom, at Yendi.

Succession to the Namship used to rotate among three Royal Houses but has now been reduced to two: Abudu and Andani.

Lesser chieftaincies are reserved for grandsons.

However, over the past century, Dagbon has gone through protracted succession disputes and conflicts.

RThousands of Commuters between Nsawam in the Akwapim East district, Ga South, Okai Koi and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly are waiting with baited breath for the roll out of the Accra-Nsawam train service in a few days. The test runs are currently being done along the rail tracks from Accra Central through Kwame Nkrumah Circle to Achimota Pokuase, Amasaman, Kotoku through to Nsawam in the Eastern Region “We are looking at the end of January, sometime this month. I think they are almost there in terms of infrastructure, now the next bit would be the test runs, they just finished the test run for Tema and announced they were done. My sister company can run the Accra-Nsawam route, once the test run is done,” he said. A statement issued by Mr. John Essel, the Acting Managing Director of the Company, said it completed a test run of its locomotive from Accra to Nsawam early this year. The statement also cited additional works done on the Kotoku-Nsawam section of the line to strengthen the structural integrity of the track, dealing with encroachment and removal of unauthorized level crossing as reasons behind the delay. The rail managers however rendered an apology to the general public for their inability to commence the Accra-Nsawam shuttle service before the end of 2018 as planned. However, the Ghana Railway Company Limited is still running free services for rail commuters which started from January 8 and ended on January 19 on the Tema-Accra line as part of its 120th Anniversary Celebration. The charge after would be GH¢5.00 flat rate per passenger. Sometime last year, President Akufo-Addo, stated that the railway sector, which was virtually non-existent before his administration took office on January 7, 2017, is being resurrected. The President explained that rehabilitation work on the fifty six (56) kilometer narrow gauge line from Kojokrom to Tarkwa through Nsuta is nearing completion, and will lead to the restoration of passenger rail service from Tarkwa to Takoradi for the first time since 2007. “The freight service from the manganese mine at Nsuta to Takoradi is in operation, and the ongoing rehabilitation has also led to a spectacular reduction in the number of derailments and incidents that occur on the line,” he added.

Rapper-turned-evangelist, Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo a.k.a Lord Kenya has refuted claims that his music career has ended because he decided to preach the gospel.

According to him, he is not done with music yet but was waiting on God for the green light to come out with a new album.

The ‘Sika Ba’ hit maker added that he had to go on a long break from the music scene because people thought his calling by God to become a pastor was a nine-day wonder.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM on Tuesday, Kenya stressed that he will only come out with a new song when “the Holy Spirit has given me the go-ahead otherwise I won’t do it.

Anokye Supremo aka Daddy Lumba Jnr is still in coma after undergoing surgery in India to remove a brain tumor which affected his sight.

According to reports monitored  by Ghbase.com on KOFI TV, the artiste has been in coma for some weeks since his operation at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Mukundapur in India.

The artiste, formerly known as Daddy Lumba Jnr., was diagnosed of the tumour a few months ago.

This was after he started experiencing a severe headache which he thought was a migraine.

Upon a visit to the hospital, he was told it was a tumor. He began to feel pains in his left eye which later led to blindness in the same eye.

Later, he felt excruciating pains in his right eye too and could hardly breathe through his nostrils.

“It started in October and I thought it was a migraine. I went to the hospital and was told I had a tumor in my head which has caused an enlargement in my left eye,” he had told citinewsroom.com in an interview.

Speaking to Kofi TV from the hospital in India, one of the surgeons said the surgery had successfully been done and they were hoping he comes back to his normal state.

“He has a very large tumor involving his eyes. He had no vision and we operated on his eyes. We have done our works and found a large tumor which can, unfortunately, be a cancerous tumor. He is still in the ventilator. And we hope he comes out.” he said.

The Nigerian kidnapping suspect who is being prosecuted in Takoradi is reported to be mocking the Ghanaian security agencies in his cells, a police source has told Starr News.

According to the source, Sammy Willis boasts among his cell mates that he alone is holding the security forces in Ghana to ransom even after a number of kidnappings.

“The guy is enjoying in prison, he is hailed as king in his cells. He brags that he has kidnapped many people . He has been mocking Ghana in the cells, he says we can’t do anything about it,” the officer told Starrfmonline.com.

The frustrated police officer also wondered why the Takoradi Police command has not transferred the suspect to the special interrogation unit at the Police headquarters in Accra where believes experts will be able to extract the whereabouts of his victims.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection wants the police to up the ante in unmasking the culprits behind the kidnapping.

Madam Cynthia Morrison said she is in a “panic mood” and the onus lies on the security agencies to restore confidence in the public.

“They [police] should up their game because kidnapping is not what we hear of in Ghana. It’s sad and I sympathise with the family,” she told Morning Starr host Francis Abban on Wednesday, 23 January 2019.

Kidnapping has been on the rise in the oil-rich region. Residents of the Western region say about seven people have been kidnapped so far, a claim the police have disputed. The police put the figure at three.

A parent of one of three girls who have been kidnapped lamented the alleged kidnappers have refused to bring back his daughter even after paying a demanded ransom.

The Gender Minister has served notice of a meeting with the police chief David Asante-Apeatu to speed up the process of closing in on the kidnappers.

A decision by the Akyem Oda Police to clamp down on drug peddlers and drug hotspots in the area has been met with violent resistance leading to the injury of a Police officer.

Akyem Oda is one of the notorious areas in the Eastern region in terms of peddling of narcotic drugs.

Some efforts were made over the years which led to the arrest of some of the drug lords in 2016 but they were left off the hook after they allegedly bribed the then Divisional Police Commander Ebenezer Ampofo.

The Commander was interdicted but was later reinstated. The Police officer, Abu Isahaku, who made the arrest was transferred to a rural area in the Northern region for challenging the Divisional Commander over the release of the drug kingpins.

The canker has reportedly resurfaced strongly compelling the Oda Police to take radical action to nip it in the bud.

Report indicate that, the Oda Police Patrol Team led by Corporal Maxwell Abbey recently invaded one of the drug ghettos popularly known as Nima where the Police retrieved ten (10) whitish substances suspected to be cocaine, Sixty-two (62) tablets of tramadol, one hundred and Eleven (111) wrap of leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and cash of Ghc376 which was the proceeds made out of the drug sale.

Police arrested the drug Kingpin, Kwadwo Gyimah, 36, but his arrest angered a group of drug addicts who launched an attack on the Police Team and in the process inflicted knife wounds on a member of the patrol team – Lance Corporal Edmund Lartey – while causing damage to their motorbikes.

The team, however, managed to hold the suspect and brought him to the Oda Police for prosecution.

The Police officer has been treated and discharged while the suspect remains in custody.

The gruesome murder Ahmed Hussein- Suale a key partner of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, is still breaking hearts in Ghana and on the international scene. 

Ahmed was sadly murdered in cold blood on the night of Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in Madina, Accra. 

His assailants were said to have been seen lurking in the area from afternoon 3:15 p.m. that fateful day, monitoring every move of Ahmed, and eventually killed him in the evening.

This was according to an eyewitness who narrated thoroughly how the murdered happened as earlier

Following the murder, dikoder.com has gone behind the scene to gather more information about Ahmed, and here are six facts we have found so far: 

1. Wives: dikoder.com has learnt that Ahmed had two wives and a number of children at the time of his death. 

Though we cannot verify exactly the number of children, reports hint that there are about four or five of them. 

2. Family knowledge of job: It has also been gathered that though the family knew Ahmed was a trained journalist, they never knew he worked as an investigative journalist with Anas. 

It was after Kennedy Agyapong leaked his photos in the media that the family got to know he worked with Anas. His friends did not know as well. 

According to one of them who spoke in a video seen by dikoder.com it was after Agyapong’s action that the friends started calling him to find out if he indeed worked with Anas. 

The friend admitted that he, in particular, was really shocked at the revelation. 

3. Pious Muslim: Ahmed has also been described as a pious Muslim. In a video sighted by dikoder.com in which his family and friends spoke about him, Ahmed was said to be never missing from the mosque during prayer times.

According to this particular friend who spoke, “Ahmed honoured all his prayer times”; adding that he was an excellent example for the youth. 

4. Down to earth: Despite Ahmed’s job as a celebrated investigative journalist, he was still seen mingling with his friends. 

According to the friend quoted above, Ahmed was eating together with them even after they got to know the kind of person he was in terms of his job. 

He also said Ahmed played with them just like they had done growing up. He was even in their company since afternoon till he was killed later in the evening that day. 

5. Skillful driver: From the information gathered so far, it has also come to the fore that the late Ahmed was a skillful driver. 

For instance, during the attack on him by the gunmen, he was said to have driven backwards in an attempt to dodge from the killers and save his life.

In so doing, he crashed into a salon across the road, where his killers followed him to and fired the last shot in the neck killing him instantly

6. Compassionate and kind: “Whenever we were making contribution for our friends for a funeral or other thing, he would either pay the whole amount or be the highest contributor,” said a friend of Ahmed who spoke with the media.

He further described him as a kind and compassionate person who was also willing to help others when called on. 

He decried his premature death and said Ahmed would be missed greatly. 

Meanwhile, the police have started investigations into the murder, assuring the public of getting to the roots of the matter. 

In an earlier report by dikoder.com, the police said the investigation is ‘rigorous’, disclosing that NPP MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, and former president of GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, have been interrogated and statements taken from them in relating to the murder. 

Ahmed was said to have raised concerns about attacks on his life with a Whatsapp message he sent to a journalist platform which he belonged to. 

He was laid to rest on Friday, January 18, 2019, according to the Islamic custom.

The Minority in Parliament is calling for a full disclosure on what transpired during the recent trip by a government delegation to the United Arab Emirates, for the possible extradition of Menzgold Boss Nana Appiah Mensah.

According to the Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, details such as which government officials from the emirati side met the country’s delegation, the level of diplomatic discussions that took place between the two countries, and the role of the Ghana mission in the UAE in resolving the matters at hand, are all critical information that Ghanaians must know.

The MP for North Tongu argued that if the purpose of government’s recent trip to Dubai was only to take a statement from NAM 1, then the Ghanaian Embassy in Dubai could have conveniently done that on behalf of the government.

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also accused government of causing financial loss to the state by funding the recent trips by some EOCO and Ghana Police officials to the UAE to take a statement from NAM 1.

“Full disclosure is very important when you have told the whole country that you have composed a delegation and that you are going to meet your counterpart in Dubai and you are going to use diplomacy to try to get NAM 1 back to Ghana. As we speak, so many days since they return, no briefing to the Ghanaian public, we do not know which officials we met there…Remember that this is a country where we have a full mission, we have an Ambassador, Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, and if it was just going to take a statement from NAM 1; the mission could have done that”.

“What you have engaged in now, leading a high level government delegation and returning and not telling us if you met your counterpart in UAE can only amount to causing financial loss and wastage of the tax payers monies.”

“Especially for a government that has said that they do not want to use the tax payer’s monies in compensating the victims of this Menzgold debacle, the government’s conduct leaves much to be desired. And we insist the people of Ghana need to know what really transpired in Dubai.”

Last week, a government delegation headed by Deputy Attorney General, Joseph Kpemka were in UAE for deliberations on the possible extradition of NAM 1.

The Ghana Police Service and the Economic and Organised Crime Office, in a statement revealed that the CEO of the troubled gold trading firm, Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, is currently facing misdemeanour charges in Dubai, after which he will be brought to Ghana if he’s cleared of all the charges leveled against him.

In the statement, the Ghanaian delegation revealed that NAM1’s court hearing in Dubai has been scheduled for February 2, 2019.

“It is the understanding of the Ghanaian delegation that Mr. Mensah faces misdemeanour charges in the UAE and will be made available to Ghana upon the final determination of his current matter in the UAE. His case is next due for court on February 2, 2019” the statement read.

According to the statement, the Menzgold CEO has been engaged by EOCO and the Ghana Police Service representatives in Dubai and has provided an extensive statement to the security agencies which will be used for investigations into claims of fraud leveled against him by Ghanaians who invested with Menzgold.

Hiplife and Afro-pop Ghanaian artiste, Okyeame Kwame, has denied claims he invested in Menzglod.

He tells Luv FM Drive Time host, DJ Reuben, there is no element of truth in the reports making the rounds in the media, adding his followers should disregard such information.

The ‘Rap Doctor’ was reacting to a document trending n social media , suggesting he had invested 150,000 cedis with the embattled self-styled gold dealership firm.

The multiple-award-winning singer is one of the popular Ghanaian celebrities who openly endorsed Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM 1) and his business empire.

A giant Menzgold billboard on the Oforikrom-Asokwa highway, depicts the ‘Made in Ghana’ hitmaker holding a piece of gold advertising the company’s business. 

In response to a question by DJ Reuben on whether he regrets endorsing Menzgold in view of current developments, Okyeame Kwame indicated he would speak to those issues later when “tempers are down”.

“As we all know, the matter is under investigation and I wouldn’t want to comment and pre-empt to complicate the work of the police. So I would rather want the dust to settle and wouldn’t want to jump the gun, but will certainly respond in due time,” he stated.

“The Menzgold issue is a very sensitive one, and as it stands, lots of processes are underway to unravel the facts and truth around this whole issue, so let’s leave it as it is,” Okyeame Kwame insisted.

After several weeks of silence on issues on MenzGold, Artiste Manager of Zylofon Media, Nana Asiamah Hanson alias Bulldog has finally spoken from his hideout in Russia, MyNewsGh.com reports. 

MenzGold, a Gold Dealership company is currently facing challenges of paying their clients their dividends and principals for monies they invested there. 

Bulldog who in sometime past said, Nana Appiah Mensah, the owner of MenzGold could give the government a loan of $50 billion, has for months now been quiet on issues regarding MenzGold. 

But in a Facebook Livestream on his page, the artiste manager mentioned that he and his associates have monies locked up at the Gold Dealership company. 

However, he will not blame the managers of MenzGold but the government of Ghana for its shambolic handling of issues with regards to MenzGold.

Bulldog referring to the statement issued by the Ministry of Information, he mentioned that clearly, Government is confused and does not know what it’s doing. 

To him, SEC and the BoG had not authority or right to interfere in the business of MenzGold and therefore SEC should not have halted the operations of the legally registered entity which has been paying huge taxes for the past five years. 

He noted that the various demonstrations by the aggrieved customers of MenzGold are not going to get government’s intervention but to drum home the need for government to leave MenzGold to operate. 

He described the Akufo-Addo led government as incompetent adding that their management of the economy has been shambolic.

Voting in the referendum on the creation of six new regions has ended and provisional results available to Joy News shows YES received a massive endorsement in almost all affected areas.

If the results are approved by the Electoral Commission, then six new regions will be created. These are Oti, Bono East, Savannah, Ahafo, Western North and North East.

A total of four million voters were expected to vote in the referendum.

But the many YESs will not quite translate into the creation of a new region. The constitution stipulates 50 percent turnout and 80 percent out of that number voting YES. Only then can a new region be created.

The exercise began at 7am on Thursday with a few hitches. While attendance was massive in some parts, others recorded low turnout.

But largely, the process has been peaceful and incident-free.

Ohemeng Tawiah is in Brong Ahafo where two regions – Ahafo and Bono East – will be created if the requirements are met through the votes.

He reports at the Tankani Primary School in Atebub-Amentin, one of the many polling stations, 41 voted YES. The area had 43 registered voters.

At the Hwidiem SHS ‘A’ polling station also in the Brong Ahafo region, out of the 513 registered voters, 473 voted YES. Only two voted NO with two rejected ballots.

Still at Hwidiem, at the Osuodumgya SHS ‘A’ 604 voted YES and two voted NO. Some 607 voters out of the 762 registered voters turned out to cast their ballot.

In the Western region at the Anglican Primary School, ‘B’ 439 voted YES, none voted NO. At the Anglican primary School ‘A’, 452 out of 769 voted YES, none voted NO.

At the Arms Polling Station ‘A’ in the Techiman South Constituency, 636 voted YES, two voted NO and there was one rejected ballot.

Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia also cast his ballot at Walewale

Hashmin Mohammed is in the Northern region and reports that at the Asalia Primary ‘B’ polling station 452 out of 478 registered voted YES, none voted NO. Two spoilt ballots were recorded.

In the Volta regional town of Akpafu, however, some youth decided to boycott the vote. They told Joy News correspondent Mawuli Yevu Agbi, they had no interest in the process as they did not call for the creation of the Oti region.

As of 2 PM at the Akpafu Odomi E.P. Primary School, only nine people had voted and at the end of polls, only 1.8 percent of eligible voters had cast their ballot at the SCMB polling station.

The situation was different at the Jasikan district. At the District Council Hall polling station, 356 voted YES, two voted No.

Parliament has approved about 500 million Ghana cedis for the Ministry of Energy to spend in the 2019 fiscal year.

The amount is expected to be used to enhance activities in the Power sub sector and the Petroleum Sub-sector.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, the Chairman of the Committee of Mines and Energy, Emmanuel Akwasi-Gyamfi was hopeful the budget will resolve challenges in the power sector as well as improve activities in agencies under the ministry.

“The ministry has been allocated a total amount of 500,964,480 million to implement its programmes and activities for the 2019 financial year. Out of this amount 19,775,936.66 million Ghana cedis and 27,857,842.02 representing 3.9% and 5.5% have been earmarked for compensation and goods and services respectively,” he told members of the House.

Meanwhile some members of parliament on the Mines and Energy Committee are unhappy about the actual funds that goes to the Ministry of Energy to undertake projects in the Petroleum and power sub-sectors of the country.

The development, according to the MPs is badly affecting government’s aim of expanding electricity to rural areas.

Reacting on the floor of parliament, Minority Spokesperson on Energy and a member of the Mines and Energy Committee, Adam Mutawakilu pointed out that the situation is having a negative effect on the energy sector.

“If you look at the actual money that went to the ministry it was less than what was approved. This I believe affected the rural electrification project. The government can do better,” he said.
