Mourinho Rejected Lyon as He Has ‘Already Chosen Another Club.

Jose Mourinho turned down Lyon’s approach to become their new manager because he has already found another club, according to president Jean-Michel Aulas.

We had some fairly flattering exchanges over text, Aulas stated. “It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club.

Ligue 1 heavyweights Lyon sacked Sylvinho on Monday after just one win in his last nine matches at the helm and Aulas had identified Mourinho as a target to take the helm.

Sylvinho’s arrival coincided with the return of club icon Juninho Pernambucano as sporting director in pre-season.

Aulas confirmed the decision to dismiss the former Manchester City and Barcelona defender came from Juninho, with Sylvinho’s perceived negative brand of football doing little to endear himself.

  • Dembele Handed 2-Match Ban; Set to Miss El Clasico

Dembele Handed 2-Match Ban; Set to Miss El Clasico

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele is out of the Clasico meeting with Real Madrid after he was handed a two-match domestic suspension for his comments towards referee Mateu Lahoz.

Lionel Messi and head coach Ernesto Valverde had defended the former Borussia Dortmund star’s actions, claiming that he doesn’t speak Spanish well, suggesting that his punishment should be reduced as a result.

However, the Spanish Football Federation has upheld a two-game ban, meaning that Dembele will miss the league matches against Eibar and Real Madrid, subject to any appeal from the Catalans.

It is the latest setback in the 22-year-old’s Barcelona career, which has yet to really ignite since moving from Dortmund in the summer of 2017.

  • Dybala Never Wanted to Leave Juventus

Dybala Never Wanted to Leave Juventus

Paulo Dybala has reaffirmed his commitment to Juventus after a summer in which he came close to a move away from Turin.

Dybala has been reintegrated back into Maurizio Sarri’s squad, however, and has helped Juve to make a strong start to the season. The reigning Italian champions are top of Serie A and unbeaten in all competitions.

They also beat title rivals Inter at San Siro on Sunday, with Dybala and fellow former castaway Gonzalo Higuain both on the scoresheet. Dybala scored a fantastic opener barely five minutes in, smashing into the far corner past the desperate dive of Samir Handanovic.

Dybala has claimed that he always wanted to stay and fight for his place at Juve, saying.I have not experienced an easy summer. Obviously hearing your name linked with every team you don’t want to go to is not a nice thing, but this is football.

Before the market started I had already done an interview in which I said I wanted to stay in Turin, then I never spoke again, not even at the Copa America.

I think it’s more important to talk on the field, with facts. You never know how the market goes until the last day, but I wanted to stay here, I wanted to continue my career at Juventus.

I think I can still give so much to this shirt and I’m very happy with what I showed against Inter.

  • Pochettino says Spurs’ Chairman Levy Still Backs Him

Pochettino says Spurs’ Chairman Levy Still Backs Him

Mauricio Pochettino has said that he still has a very good relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, despite his side’s disappointing start to the season.

After their 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the weekend – a game in which, to make matters worse, Hugo Lloris sustained a serious elbow injury – Spurs have won two of their last five games in the Premier League and are currently ninth in the table.

Speaking at the Aspire Academy global summit in Qatar, Pochettino suggested that he and Levy still share strong mutual respect.

We maintain a very good relationship and it is extraordinary to have that support, I have always told him that, in addition to my chairman, I consider him a friend.

Football is not a drama, it is passion and we cannot separate it from emotions, he went on, but neither can we make a sport as fantastic as this one [all about] the latest result.

We must learn from defeats to be able to exceed our limits and that begins by accepting that you don’t always win and that the opponent also works hard and [has] merits.

You must always react with dignity to the result, regardless of whether it is good or bad.

Gareth Bale is Angry and Wants to Leave Real Madrid.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is angry and fed up at the Spanish giants and wants to leave the club.

Gareth Bale is fed up,He can do this no longer. At a time when he began to stand out, knowing that as he plays matches his fitness would be sharpened, he suddenly had to watch the game against Bruges in the stands. Nobody knows why.

He is angry, confused. When Zidane returned to the club, he decided he did not want Bale, without anyone having offered a clear reasoning. Bale was told that Zidane, with whom he has a professional relationship, had made an unequivocal decision and was preparing for his departure.

His agent, Jonathan Barnett, set out to find his alternative options, but Bale preferred – ahead of any other possibility – to remain at the club.

Bale had been set to join the Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning on a three-year contract in the summer – earning a reported £1m a week – but Real canceled the deal because they wanted a transfer fee.

According to a report, Welshman does not quite understand is why the doors were opened, and then they did not let him go. Madrid agreed not to charge a transfer fee to the Chinese side Jiangsu Suning, but ultimately they backed down because they believed that another Chinese team was willing to pay a large amount for James Rodriguez, a rumor that ended up being false.

Bale has played well in recent weeks – partly because he is angry – in response to the distance and coldness with which the coach treats him, and he has finally rebelled at his situation.

In July, Real manager Zinedine Zidane said we hope he leaves soon a comment to which Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett replied: “Zidane is a disgrace – he shows no respect for a player that has done so much for Real Madrid.

  • Rising Arsenal Star Asked to Snub Brazil for Italian National team

Rising Arsenal Star Asked to Snub Brazil for Italian National team

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has made contact with representatives of Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli with a view to having the young Brazilian snub the country of his birth and instead pledge his allegiance to the Italy national team.

Martinelli was born in the Brazilian city of Guarulhos in the state of Sao Paolo, but it has emerged that he is eligible for an Italian passport through his father, and the Azzurri are keen to sign up the 18-year-old as he has not yet turned out for the Selecao.

Brazil national team coach Tite did actually call-up the youngster to join pre-tournament training ahead of the 2019 Copa America, which Brazil went on to win, but the trip was merely to have Martinelli and a select few other starlets get experience in a national team set-up.

Tite’s former right-hand man, Edu, is now director of football at Arsenal, could well step in to convince the player to reject Italy’s proposal, though it is understood that Martinelli has not yet ruled anything out.

La Liga: Suarez & Messi Star in Sevilla Thrashing.

Luis Suarez scored a sublime overhead kick as champions Barcelona climbed to second in La Liga with a convincing win over Sevilla at the Nou Camp.

Ernesto Valverde’s side swept Julen Lopetegui’s visitors away with three goals in eight first-half minutes.

Suarez opened the scoring with an acrobatic finish after 27 minutes, before Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele put the hosts in complete control.

Lionel Messi completed the scoring with a delightful free-kick late on.

Barcelona had 20-year-old debutant Ronald Araujo and Ousmane Dembele sent off in the closing stages, after Araujo brought down Javier Hernandez when last man – and Dembele was shown a second yellow card for dissent in the aftermath.

  • Guardiola: Manchester CityStill in Title Race.

Guardiola: Manchester CityStill in Title Race.

Pep Guardiola admitted his Manchester City players were “nervous” as they were beaten by Wolves at the Etihad Stadium thanks to two goals from a former Barcelona player, Adama Traoré.

“It was a bad day, sometimes it happens,” Guardiola said. “We started quite well and after we conceded two situations in our buildup where it’s impossible to defend, we got a little bit nervous. We controlled them better in the second half but at the end with us attacking and people upfront, we lost balls in positions [where] it is so difficult and they were clinical. Before that, we hit the post but the way we played was not good. It was not a good day.”

Pressed as to why City was nervous, Guardiola added: “It sometimes happens. We spoke about this: ‘Come on guys, a lot of games [still] to play, we did it [last season] and we’re going to do it again.’ We lost to a good team that was really well-organized, good physicality, strong in the air and so fast on the counterattack. We knew it.”

He added the gap to Liverpool: “It is a lot of points. They didn’t drop points [due to] many circumstances. I had a feeling we were not quite bad. Today was the day we create less than the other matches, even in the [3-2] loss at Norwich we create a lot.

“We face many teams defending with deep systems and more or less we found a way to do it but today we had a problem. It is better not to think that one team is eight points ahead.

  • Juve snap inter milan’s winning run.

Juve snap inter milan’s winning run.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus inflicted a first defeat of the season on Inter Milan in Serie A after leaving the San Siro Stadium with a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Ronaldo was heavily involved in the winning goal, combining with Rodrigo Bentancur to setup substitute Gonzalo Higuain for an 80th-minute winner after Lautaro Martinez had scored from the penalty spot to answer Paulo Dybala’s opener for the visitors.

The result has sent the Bianconeri to the top of the table and ruined Inter boss Antonio Conte’s first match against his former club.

Juve’s positive lineup, featuring Ronaldo and Dybala up top with Federico Bernardeschi positioned behind, was rewarded with an early goal when Dybala converted a low shot in the fourth minute.

The finish emboldened the visitors, who poured forward in numbers, moving the ball imaginatively and at pace. Ronaldo went close on nine minutes when he drifted in from the left and crashed a shot off the bar.

Inter were showing signs of nerves, but a mistake at the back helped them get back into the game. Matthijs de Ligt was flagged for handball, and the video assistant referee confirmed the infraction along with the award of a penalty to Martinez.

The Argentinian made no mistake from the spot to continue a prolific recent run. Signed from Racing Club in 2018, Martinez has been gaining admirers for his all-action displays:

  • Tottenham Boss Pochettino Doesn’t Fear Sack

Tottenham Boss Pochettino Doesn’t Fear Sack

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says he is not worried about the sack despite his side’s poor form.

Spurs lost 3-0 at Brighton on Saturday to compound a miserable week that also saw them thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The club was also knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League Two Colchester last month.

When asked if he feared for his job, Pochettino said: “No I am not worried, what worries me is life, not football.”

Speaking at a news conference after Saturday’s game at Amex Stadium, Pochettino said: “Football is a game that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The problem for us – it was win, win, win and it was praise for everyone.

“Now in the last two games, it was a tough situation to accept. But I don’t want to be a philosopher or talk in a way that is not good.”

  • Grant me the opportunity again Ghana – Avram Grant

Grant me the opportunity again Ghana – Avram Grant

Former Black Stars Coach Avram Grant says he will welcome an opportunity to manage the senior national team again.

“I really miss Ghana and I want to re-unite with Ghana again if I am given the opportunity. I have so many memories about Ghana and I must say that Kwesi Nyantakyi did extremely well as the President of the Ghana Football Association but it’s quite unfortunate,” he said in an interview.

He added that “there is too much politics in the game which I don’t want to talk about or involve himself. I love Ghana and ready to come back again”.

On February 28, 2017, The Ghana Football Association released a statement saying the FA and Mr. Grant have gone into a mutual agreement to end the contract upon its expiry.

The former Chelsea manager took over from current coach Kwesi Appiah in November 2014 following Ghana’s disappointing World Cup which included poor performances on and off the pitch.

Following Avram’s decision to part ways with Ghana, he is quoted by the BBC as saying “the time is right” for him to seek a new challenge and that he had enjoyed his time in charge as the Ghana Coach.

  • Emery denies Arsenal communication problems.

    Emery denies Arsenal communication problems.

Unai Emery insists that his English is good enough to communicate his ideas clearly to his Arsenal players after 18-year-old winger Bukayo Saka claimed 10 days ago that he turns to assistant first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg for clarification when he does not understand the manager.

”Last year on the first day I spoke to them [in] very bad [English], more than today, as you hear in the press conference,” Emery said. “Now my English is, from one to 10, maybe a six. But at six I think the players can understand me. But if not, some help is good.”

Emery assistant Juan Carlos Carcedo generally speaks to the group as a whole, while Ljungberg, first-team coach Pablo Villanueva and goalkeeping coach Javi Garcia work one-to-one. “But it is normally with every player, not only Bukayo Saka. Also, I spoke to Saka alone in my office and prepared sometimes some videos. I have also done videos with English players, Spanish players, German players, French players.”

He has a long way to go before he reaches the native-speaker standard of Hector Bellerin, who arrived at Arsenal from Barcelona eight years ago and spoke confidently at the Oxford Union last year. But he admits that the return of Bellerin to the first-team squad after injury will help both the team’s play on the field and the head coach’s job of it.
