  • RB Leipzig Holds Bayern to Frustrating Draw

RB Leipzig Holds Bayern to Frustrating Draw

Robert Lewandowski’s 199th goal for Bayern Munich was not enough to claim the points as RB Leipzig fought back through Emil Forsberg’s penalty to draw 1-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

In their first meeting with Leipzig since a 3-0 DFB-Pokal final win in May, Lewandowski edged closer to a double century of Bayern goals to put Niko Kovac’s side ahead.

But, after Bayern had a penalty overturned by VAR, Forsberg leveled matters from 12 yards on the stroke of half-time.

A rejuvenated Leipzig found Manuel Neuer in top form after the restart, though Bayern would have snatched it had Peter Gulacsi not managed to tip Kingsley Coman’s deflected effort onto the woodwork as Leipzig held firm to move back into the top spot after being briefly replaced by Borussia Dortmund.

  • Zidane – Bale is No Scapegoat at Real Madrid.

Zidane – Bale is No Scapegoat at Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane has opposed Gareth Bale’s view of being made a scapegoat at Real Madrid while praising the winger’s “amazing” ability.

Wales international Bale almost moved to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning during the transfer window after being told he was free to leave Madrid.

Los Blancos boss Zidane made the decision following months of speculation over their seemingly fractured relationship but the Madrid board blocked his departure at the last minute.

Bale, while on international duty last week, claimed to have been “made more of a scapegoat than most” for the team’s shortcomings, a belief not shared by his head coach.

Zidane said, no I think we’re all guilty if things go wrong or if things go right.”It’s up to us, all of us, we’re all in the same boat. We want to change things when things don’t go right. We’re thinking as a team mentality.”

Initially on the outer during the pre-season tour to the United States, Bale has since returned to the first-team fold.

“He’s a great player. What happened in the summer, everyone knew the situation. Now he’s here, I’m happy, he’s happy, everyone is happy, the fans as well. Now we have to move forward.”

  • Alisson to Miss Another 7 Games for Liverpool

Alisson to Miss Another 7 Games for Liverpool

Alisson is set to sit out at least seven more games for Liverpool, with manager Jurgen Klopp not expecting him back until after the next international break.

The Brazil international goalkeeper has been sidelined since picking up an unfortunate injury on the opening day of the 2019-20 campaign.

He broke down against Norwich at Anfield and has not been seen since.

Initial fears that a serious problem had been picked up were eased, but Alisson is no closer to making a return to action.

He has already missed three Premier League games and the UEFA Super Cup, with summer signing Adrian taking his place in the Reds side.

Klopp admits that he is likely to require cover between the sticks for several more weeks, with Liverpool eager to avoid rushing Alisson’s recovery.

With a cautious approach being favored, the 26-year-old will remain out of contention until mid-October.

WENGER WRITES OFF MAN UTD’S TITLE HOPES.

Arsene Wenger has written off Manchester United’s Premier League title chances this season and has cast doubt on whether their new crop can restore the club’s greatness.

After four games of the new campaign, in which United have won once, lost once and drawn twice, former Arsenal boss Wenger sees potential in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, but insists they are not ready for the top.

    FOR MORE NEWS

When you see Man Utd, they are one of the examples where there is a potential there,’ he told.”But they have not found a collective way. Maybe these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United, altogether.

You feel there is something coming out but it’s not ready. When you watch them play, they are not a candidate to fight for the championship. Will they emulate what (Ryan) Giggs, (Paul) Scholes, (David) Beckham did over a number of years? Personally, I’m not convinced.”

Messi- I Don’t Know If Barca Did Enough to Sign Neymar

Lionel Messi insists he is not disappointed at Barcelona’s failure to secure Neymar’s homecoming over the summer transfer window, while admitting he is unsure whether the club pulled out all the stops to bring the Brazilian back into the fold.
