    GHANA ARTISANS ASSOCIATION TO STAGE A NATIONWIDE DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT OVER NEGLECT AND FAILED PROMISES IN 14 DAYS

    The Ghana Artisans Associations, made up of over 20 different artisans groups across Ghana with the numerical strength of over 5000 have sent a strong signal to the government over what they described as neglect and failed campaign promises and hinted on an upcoming massive nationwide demonstration if things remain the same.

    Addressing the media, the chairman for the association, Mr. Osei Asibey hinted that the current government led by his excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo – Addo in his 2016 campaign promised Artisans in the country heaven but now he is giving them hell.

    Expressing their worries, the Chairman outlined four major reasons Artisans in the country feel abandoned and now have no option then spits fire to the government, he said, according to their research done on mechanics (fitters) in the country indicates that,

    1. 47 – 49% of mechanics have lost their jobs from 2017 to the first half of 2019 due to road constructions and other government projects.

    2. Mechanics in the country don’t have a permanent place of work after apprenticeship due to that many have turn squatters and roadside mechanics, meanwhile, the government promised them a permanent place of work.

    3. Heavy electricity bills also forcing many out of their jobs.

    4. Many craftsmen in the country have now turned into “Trotro” drivers and collectors including women, research shows that 5 artisans abandoned their work every day.

    The above reasons and more have made Artisanship in the country no longer attractive to the youth and if things remain unchanged in the next 7 years the country will lose it artisanship power, Mr. Osei Asibey added

    The association in the quest of giving artisans in the country a permanent place to work, the association in their own effort have acquired over 300 acres of already graded land which now need the government support in terms electricity, water and roads to the site to enable members to move in to settle.

    Techiman based fetish priest in the Bono East Region, Nana Mosi Bansere has predicted that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose 2020 general election whether they embark on a campaign or not due to circumstances surrounding the party.

    ” NPP shouldn’t waste their time and resources to embark on campaign because they are going to lose the presidential seat to NDC come 2020. It will come as a great shock to them as Nana Addo is going to be a one-term president despite his great vision for Ghana. Forty-seven (47) of NPP MP’s will also lose their seats,” He prophesied.

    Speaking to the media on the  27th August 2019 at Techiman, Nana Mosi explained that some leaders of the party are full of arrogance whilst others are performing spiritual sacrifices which actions has to provoke God and that he is going to punish them during the 2020 general election. He, therefore, advised such leaders to refrain from those acts to save the party.

    Upper Mannya Krobo National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Bismark Tetteh Nyarko has donated medical apparatus worth GH¢2,500.00 to PREKUMASE Community Health Center to improve quality healthcare delivery in Eastern Region.

     Upper Mannya is one of the deprived District in Ghana grappling with developmental challenges. Hon. Bismark in his bid to find solutions to the challenges facing the district donated the equipment such as sphygmomanometer, weighing scale, a set of circumcision scissors, BP apparatus, Thermometers, different set of scissors, hand gloves and many more.

    ASHWAPA REJECTS NaCCA SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

    The Ashanti Regional Writers and Publishers Association (ASHWAPA) has rejected vehemently the new submission guidelines by the National Council for Curriculum Assessment NaCCA which calls on the writers to submit their books for assessment before putting them on market.

    The Ashanti Region Writers And Publishers Association (ASHWAPA) is informing the general public that the move by NaCCA is a clear attempt to get them out of business for them to get contracts for their cronies.

    According to them the new submission guidelines by NaCCA states that all private writers are to submit their final products to the board for approval before they will be allowed to sell to the various schools in the country.

    They added that timing for the submission of guidelines by NaCCA is in bad taste because of the short period they have to send the books for assessment and approval.

    Therefore they are appealing to the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA), Ministry of Education and the Government to consider them only this year because they have invested millions of cedis and this may affect their business.

    The  Barekese Youth Association in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region has extended their great honor and gratitude to the Almighty God for this Grace and Glory and also to the Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu Il for installing  Okofo Amoapim Brenya l as new chief for Barekese community.

    According to them, Otumfour Osei Tutu ll has reviewed free and fair to them, when they voiced out for a new chief since the late chief, Nana Kwame Akowuah ll passed on about two years ago.

    The youths are giving their welcome address to Okofo Amoapim Brenya ll as new chief for the Atwima Nwabiagya North District Capital Barekese and we hope he can do all his best to develop Barekese community.

    Speaking to the general secretary, Mr. Kwame Amankwah, he said, all Barekese Youths and the entire Atwima Nwabiagya North District Assembly will support Okofo Amoapim Brenya l to develop Barekese community.

    They, therefore, appealing to the new chief, Okofo Amoapim Brenya l to help the community with  developmental projects because it has been the most powerful points when the chieftaincy issues race up for the past two years now, they lack some developmental projects like poor road networks, poor market structure and also there are three quarry industries in the area but none of them help the community and many others, so they are appealing to him to come to their aid.

    Following the NDC Primaries coming on the 24th August 2019. Saturday. The Chairman for Bibiani-Anhwaiso-Bekwai Constituency in the Western North Region for the opposition party, National Democratic Congress(NDC), Mr. Kofi Ankomah popularly known as Robaman, has entreated delegates and aspirants in his territory  come this Saturday 24th August,19 that they should avoid themselves in violence or any bad behavior around the primaries center.

    In an interview with Chairman , aspirants would only be allowed at the centre if they come with not more than three supporters.

    Chairman urging all delegates and aspirants not to campaign around the voting center and they should avoid themselves in music play and make merry within 500km from the polling center.He laments that any aspirant or delegate who will involve himself in any form of misbehaving will be handed over to the police till the election is over.

    He also encourages his delegates which will go for the voting should do justice to it and return back home for the final judgment because if it happens like that it will avoid everybody from violence and other bad behaviors.

    In the lives of the people at  Afram plains south in the kwahu south District of the Eastern region of Ghana. Fishing has become their daily life over 50-60year ago since the construction of the Akosombo dam. This river has a lot of timbers been buried by the water which serves as a breeding place for fishes in the Afram river.

    Fishermen in  Kwahu South District, Afram plains South pleading to the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and his government to come to their rescue for an operation been done by Katekrakyie Timber Recovery Company Limited who have been removing trees from the Afram river.

     They emphasize that these activities can cause a lot of damage to the living beings around the river and surrounding communities and the country as a whole.

    In an interview on DFM Morning show with Agyaba Kwame koranteng,they disclosed that, oils been used for the operations of their machines  can cause the water to be contaminated which can kill the fishes in the river, diseases and other infections to the people in this communities since  the river serve as their sources of water for their domestic usage. They cried that fishes such as Tilapia, Catfish, Akwaabi, Odo, Mudfish (Adwen) others will be very scared in the country if this activity continues. In addition to this, they lamented that this company have also acquired security protection on the river that if any fisherman try to approach where they are work about  10km this security personnel  attack them with their boat to override their cannon which has become a problem for them

    PERSONS ARRESTED FOR SMUGGLING PFJ FERTILIZERS

    Following the police aggressiveness to deal with the issue of smuggling in the country and individual sabotaging the government flagship policy planting for food and jobs, Five persons have been arrested by the Somanya police command for transporting over 4,000 bags of smuggled fertilizers meant for cocoa farmers in the Western region. 

    They were caught at Asomdwoe Krom, a suburb of the Eastern region town, offloading one of the trucks with registration number GM 206-17. The arrest was made in the house of one Patrick Nartey who claims to be a cocoa farmer based in the Western region but has a cocoa farm in Asenisi, a suburb of Somanya.

    Four of the suspects are drivers of the impounded articulated trucks carrying the consignments while the other is the receiver. One other driver absconded while the five were detained at the Somanya police cells pending further investigations.

    According to the police, when they contacted the transport officer of the company that transported the goods from Tema to Somanya, he could not explain how the fertilizers found its way into a private home in Somanya.

    Meanwhile, the receiver of the products, Patrick Nartey – Secretary of Gravel Yard Gye Nyame Nuado Kuo Cooperative denied the allegations of diversion.

    The other trucks which were yet to be offloaded at the time of the arrest had registration numbers GM 218-17. GM 219-17. GM 220-17. GM 204-17.

    Following the withdrawal of services by workers of the waste management company, Zoomlion at sefwi waiwso in the western region, Heaps of refuse have started piling up at Sefwi Dwenase in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region, thoughts seem the workers of Waste Management firm, Zoomlion Ltd at sefwi waiwso in the western region have embarked on strike over salary arrears.

    The strike action started 14th August 2019 at sefwi waiwso in the western region and yet there have been no other means of collecting the waste.

    Biodegradable waste from markets and stores have been deposited along the streets hence unleashing bad odor-causing air pollution in the environment.

    Residents at sefwi waiwso in the western region fear the strike may lead to the outbreak of diseases due to the heavy downpours the Municipality is experiencing this season which influences the rate of waste generation.

    To the excitement of the residents of barekese and the kingmakers, on  Thursday evening the 15th August 2019, the king of the Ashanti Kingdom Otumfour Osei tutu II sworn in a new chief for barekese township with the title  NANA AMOAPIM BRENYA  to take the mandatory and full the town.

    Berekese is one of the town’s that supply the Ashanti Region with water.

    Speaking to the media all residents and kingmakers seen to be glad to have a new chief since the stool have been left for long.

  • WORK ON TAMALE AIRPORT PHASE II BEGINS AS PREZ CUT SOD

    As part of the six-day tour of the President in the Northern, Upper East, and Upper West Regions. The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the beginning of work for the construction of phase II of the Tamale Airport.  which is estimated to cost $70m and financed by a United Kingdom export finance facility.

    Addressing a gathering of chiefs and people at the sod-cutting ceremony, the president said persons whose property have been affected as a result of the project, have been duly compensated.

    As a result, he expects the project to be completed on the 30-month schedule to avoid cost overrun.

    The President further urged the Ghana Airports Company Limited and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, to protect the property on which the airport sits from encroachment.

    Present at the ceremony was the Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda.

    According to him the phase II of the Tamale Airport is part of Governments efforts to make Ghana an aviation hub of West Africa. It is also to position Ghana as a preferred destination of choice for travelers.

    This project, he pointed out, is one of many other improvements which the NPP government led by President Akufo- Addo, is introducing to improve the aviation sector.

    Officials of the  Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability-ASEPA in collaboration with several Civil Society Organisation had made a pronouncement to take a  civil demonstration aimed at putting public pressure on Government to abrogate the ECG-PDS concession agreement with immediate effect and to transfer all assets, technical and financial operations back to ECG.

    Speaking on DFM morning show, the Executive Director ASEPA who doubles as  the Convenor, Drop PDS  Mr. Mensah Thompson    Said “we don’t understand why Government still allow PDS the take charge of the monitory aspect of ECG while they have been suspended”

    The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has assured residents of the Upper East Region that the Bolgatanga to Bawku road will be completed before the 2020 elections.

    Addressing the Chiefs and people at Binaba, in the Zebilla constituency, in the Upper East Region,  President Akufo-Addo assured that his Government will ensure the completion of this road before the general election begins in 2020.

     He, thus, appealed for the support of the Ghanaian people for the programs and policies being implemented by his government, adding that “without your support, without unity amongst you, it will be very difficult for us to achieve our targets and our purposes. That is my appeal to you.”

    AGONA EAST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HAS FORMED A TASKFORCE TO TRACK DOWN REVENUE DEFAULTERS

    The Agona East District Assembly has tried to increase its internally generated funds (IGF) by forming a taskforce with the objective to help to improve the financial position of the Assembly.

    Mr Dennis Armah-Frempong, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona East made this known at the meeting of the Assembly at Nsaba.

    He said the aim of forming the taskforce was to track down all revenue defaulters to collect the monies owed the Assembly for it to undertake more development projects to raise the living standards of the people. The Assembly has begun the distribution of demand notices to its clients to settle their indebtedness, urging Assembly members to create awareness for the defaulters to appreciate the need to pay rates and fees to the Assembly
