  • QUARRY DRIVERS ANGRY OVER FRAUDULENT FAKE RECEIPT

QUARRY DRIVERS ANGRY OVER FRAUDULENT FAKE RECEIPT

Association of quarry drivers in the Afigya Kwabre district of the Ashanti region has expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment in the Afigya Kwabre district assembly over what the drivers suspect to be smart theft, forged receipt, and deception in its highest order, as they call for immediate reform.

According to the aggrieved drivers, an amount of Gh¢5.00 which was paid by each truck driver per day has risen to Gh¢5.00 per cubic (trip) instead.

Meaning, drivers have to pay Gh¢50.00 to Gh¢100.00 for the day based on the number of moves you make per the day.

Speaking to the Chairman of the association, Mr. Kwadwo Kusi, he said the assembly just stood up one day to change the payment decision with the explanation that the assembly had wanted to get more revenue to construct deplorable roads within the area for the quarry drivers and other road users of which he says has yielded nothing.

“We the quarry drivers are very much suffering since we are not getting anything, but only work and end up giving our monies to the assembly. The consolation which we had that roads were going to be constructed from such huge money charging has yielded no results”, he cried out.

Other truck drivers expressing disappointment and pointing fingers at the DCE, Hon Christian Adu Poku (APC) and the entire Afigya Kwabre district assembly said even the current receipt issued to them after they have made payment is fake as compared to the old genuine receipt which has a Coat of Arms inscription on it.

They continued by arguing that instead of the real revenue collectors from the assembly, the DCE has rather deployed some known vigilante group members and serial callers who rather come around to collect the money and then issue such fake receipt (ticket).

“Every government in power take drivers for granted considers us as fools, but we want to tell them we are not fools.

We are going to show them how intelligent we are”, they said.

  • STERLING: GOMEZ AND I ARE GOOD.

STERLING: GOMEZ AND I ARE GOOD.

Raheem Sterling admitted emotions got the better of him in a bust-up with Joe Gomez, but the England star is moving on after being dropped.

The Manhcester City winger was reportedly involved in a physical confrontation with Gomez at England’s training base on Monday and has been dropped for Thursday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro.

The FA announced on Monday that Sterling was dropped as a result of a “disturbance in a private team area at St. George’s Park”, ruling him out for the Montenegro match while leaving the door open for a return against Kosovo.

Sterling and Gomez were also involved in an altercation during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over the Premier League champions on Sunday.

That win kept Liverpool unbeaten in the Premier League while opening up a nine-point gap between the two sides, with Leicester and Chelsea sandwiched in between in second and third place, respectively.

In a post on Instagram, Sterling said it was time to move on, but admitted he had let his emotions get the better of him during the incident.

First and foremost everyone knows what that game means to me!  he wrote on his official Instagram account.

Everyone knows that I am not that way inclined and more to the point … both Joe and I have had words and figured things out and move on.

  • NPPS ARE MORE VIOLENT THAN NDCS — A PLUS AFFIRMS

NPPS ARE MORE VIOLENT THAN NDCS — A PLUS AFFIRMS

Controversial musician, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, says compared to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are more violent in attacking people on social media.

His comment comes after some NPP members verbally attacked Ghanaian media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah for criticising President Akufo-Addo to stop blaming the former President, John Dramani Mahama at the least opportunity.

The statement did not go down well with the majority of Akufo-Addo sympathizers and NPP members who took turns to insult and abuse her personality on all social media platforms.

Sharing his opinion however on the matter, A Plus said he cannot fathom why his colleagues (guys) in the NPP are always the ones that get furious even when the issue has got to do with both NPP and NDC.

“So please ooo why is it that when people attack both NDC and NPP it is the NPP guys that get angry and insult? I just don’t get it”,.

A Plus added: “If you like go to your page right now and post “NDC and NPP are useless.” This thing I don’t understand it ooo”.

  • ACCRA SKY TRAIN INVESTMENT PROJECT RECEIVES BIG BOOST WITH SIGNING OF CONCESSION AGREEMENT

ACCRA SKY TRAIN INVESTMENT PROJECT RECEIVES BIG BOOST WITH SIGNING OF CONCESSION AGREEMENT

The much anticipated Accra Sky Train project, which is a fully automated, high efficiency and extremely cost effective public mass transit system that will use air propulsion technology to drive lightweight, high passenger volume vehicles, on the 11th of November, 2019, received a big boost with the signing of a concession agreement between the Government of Ghana and AiSky Train Consortium of South Africa.

The signing ceremony took place in South Africa as part of the ongoing African Investment Forum’s Invest in Africa’s Space event ongoing in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Addressing attendees at the signing ceremony, President Akufo-Addo, expressed great delight about the fact that the project is gradually nearing its consummation stage in order to see the light of day. With the signing of the concession agreement, President Akufo Addo said, “It is meeting an important infrastructure need and hopefully the step that is being taken today with the signing of the concession, means that the project itself is that much nearer conclusion. That is what we’re hoping for so that the people of Ghana could benefit from the progress of the relief that a modern system of commuting in our capital city is going to bring.”

The proposed sky train initiative in Accra provides for the development of five (5) routes, four (4) of which are comprised of radial routes that originate at the proposed sky train terminal, at the heart of Accra, at a newly developed Kwame Nkrumah circle, and one (1) route that provides and intra-city commuter loop distribution service, also emanating from Circle. The project envisages a total track length across all routes of 194 kilometers.

  • 2-YEAR-OLD BOY ALLEGEDLY REFUSED TREATMENT FOR SNAKE BITE OVER FOLDER DIES

2-YEAR-OLD BOY ALLEGEDLY REFUSED TREATMENT FOR SNAKE BITE OVER FOLDER DIES

A two-year-old boy who was allegedly refused treatment for snakebite at the Upper West Regional Hospital in Wa has died.

The boy was bitten by a snake in a Bambara beans farm at Boli in the Wa municipality Saturday, and the mother had to carry him on her back to trek more than 3 kilometres to a CHPS Compound in the area where he was given first aid before being referred to the regional hospital.

He was then carried on a motorbike together with his mother and aunt for about 45-minute journey from Boli to Wa.

They arrived at the regional hospital at about 2:00 p.m. but health workers there allegedly asked the boy’s mother to get a folder before treatment could be administered.

Workers in charge of the folder room were, however, said to have abandoned their duty post at the time.

The distraught relatives of the boy went back to inform nurses at the emergency ward about the development, but they allegedly insisted on their demand for a folder before any treatment could be given to the boy.

    Boy ‘refused’ medical attention

According to relatives and an eyewitness, the nurses refused to admit or even give the little boy any form of treatment or attention because they could not get the folder.

“We were asked to go for a folder if not we wouldn’t get treatment. We went to the folder room but there was nobody there, and the nurses insisted they will not attend to us until we have the folder,” Salia Abudu who transported the boy and his relatives to the hospital told 3news.com.

In their desperation, Abudu said they went to inquire about the whereabouts of persons in charge of the folder room from a nurse at the OPD department but the said male nurse got angry.

“One big man who was at the OPD taking vital signs got even angry at us when we asked the whereabouts of the people in charge of the folder room so we sat at the Hospital up 6:00 p.m.” he claimed.

According to Abudu, they were scandalised by the attitude of the health workers on duty at the time, noting both the boy’s mother and aunt became helpless after waiting for four hours without getting any treatment for the boy.

“We were advised to go and unfortunately, the boy died upon arriving at the CHPS compound,” Abudu told 3news.com

Residents who got wind of the incident are reportedly angry and are demanding heads to roll at the hospital for the alleged negligence.

When contacted, the acting director of the Regional Hospital, Dr Emmanuel Steve Blankson, said the matter had not come to his attention but assured he will investigate to “know what actually happened on the ground”.

He explained that the hospital has put in place measures to take care of all emergency cases at the facility including snake bites.

Dr Blankson indicated that even in situations where victims with emergency cases are brought in unconscious without any relative, they are given treatment by health workers, and cited a similar incident where an accident victim brought in Saturday was rushed to the theatre.

On the issue of a folder, he said the practice has been that where a patient requiring emergency care is brought in without a folder, they pen down the patient’s information on a sheet of paper until such a time his or her folder will be ready and the information transferred unto it.

He assured that he will look into the two-year-old boy’s case to know “whether at any point because of folder somebody didn’t get care”.

  • BUKOM BANKU BANNED FROM PROFESSIONAL BOXING FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT

BUKOM BANKU BANNED FROM PROFESSIONAL BOXING FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has revoked the professional licence of Ghanaian boxer Braimah Isaac Kamoko, for breach of contract. The revocation of his licence by the GBA disciplinary committee on November 7 was necessitated by the boxer’s withdrawal from a rematch with Bastie Samir.

With this decision, the boxer-cum-comedian popularly known as Bukom Banku, has been banned from fighting until the licence is restored.

A well-publicized cruiserweight bout saw Bastie forcing Braimah, popularly known as Bukom Banku, taste his first defeat in a seventh-round technical knockout at the Bukom boxing arena on October 21, 2017.

Until then, the former African light heavyweight champion had an undefeated record of 28-0-0.

Bukom Banku later after his defeat, signed a rematch contract with Bastie on June 20, 2018.

He took 17,000 cedis from the chief executive of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, as part of training and purse allowance.

Bukom Banko, however, failed to honour the contract with Box Office Promotions and has also failed to refund the money, pushing the organisers to lodge a complaint with the GBA.

After several hearings, the GBA disciplinary committee decided to revoke Banku’s professional licence.

It has also ordered the boxer to pay refund the 17,000 cedis he received as part of the contract with Box Office Promotions.

Meanwhile, Alex Ntiamoah has been granted a special privilege to seek relief from the courts if the boxer fails to refund the full amount.

Currently, the Box Office Promotion is engaged in negotiations with Banku’s new managers for a possible settlement plan.

Mr Ntiamoah told dikoder.com in a telephone interview that a proposal of two-third down payment is being proposed by the UK-based promoters who are currently in the country to allow Banku engage in a bout on November 30 in Accra.
