  • 70% OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS WILL STOP OPERATING -ENOCH GYETUAH

70% OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS WILL STOP OPERATING -ENOCH GYETUAH

Executive Director, Ghana National Council of Private Schools has said Government’s decision to license all private schools and teachers within the year 2020 as part of the road map to teacher professionalism will lead to the collapse of 70 percent of private schools in Ghana, the Executive Director of Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), Mr. Enoch Gyetuah, has hinted.

Per his assessment, 70 percent of low-fee-paying schools will fold up under the licensing policy owing to the fact that most private schools will not meet the criterion for the licensing.

He continued that should the policy be implemented by 2020, private schools will be forced to employ licensed teachers whose salaries they cannot afford, coupled with the fact that schools without licence would not be permitted to operate, leading to the collapse of many of them.

According to the national boss for GNACOPS, only 5 percent of the private schools (elite schools) will be able to survive under this policy.

“The remaining 25 percent (mission, populated and affiliate schools) will be able to endure for some few years, hopefully up to two and four years,” Mr Gyetuah said.

Imprisoning Wee Smokers Is An Abuse Of Human Right – Rastafarai Council

    vhillageblogger official 📻🎙…

The Rastafarai Council of Ghana has described the imprisonment of persons arrested for smoking Cannabis (Marijuana) as an abuse of human right as they push for the government to decriminalise the act.

Ghana’s laws on narcotics frown on the possession of marijuana with several culprits caught in the act made to face the full force of the law and in most cases, they are sentenced to spend jail term.

On a day where Ghana joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Cannabis Day, the Rastafarai Council of Ghana is advocating for the immediate decriminalization of Marijuana as they call on the government to see to the release of suspects imprisoned for smoking the plant.
    Rastafarai Council of Ghana
Speaking to Class FM on Saturday, April 20, 2019, on the back of the celebration of International Cannabis Day, Lawyer for the Rastafarai Council, Mr. George Tetteh Wayo highlighted that people who have been imprisoned for allegedly smoking weed did not commit any crime and must be set free.“As a lawyer, I will want to say that because that is what the law is.

But the idea is that looking at what is it they have been punished for something that really must not be criminalized. They have been punished for something that is not really a crime”, the lawyer argued. He continued:“Because what we are saying here is that herb is a plant and like I said Genesis 1, 11, 12, 29 and 30 talks about the creator himself creating herbs and saying that all plants and herbs are for food and medicine.

So from day one, our creator has given us something that is for food and medicine. It is the passage of time that society decided to criminalize this particular aspect of the issue”.

  • Road to MUSIGA …What you should know !!!

Road to MUSIGA …What you should know !!!

THE MUSIGA CONSTITUTION AND ITS INTERPRETATIONS:

    ARTICLE 10: QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICERS

Every applicant for a national Executive position in the Union:

    Must be sane
    Must have no criminal record
Must be a paid up member
    Must be literate
Eligibility for a national Executive position shall be a minimum of six months continuous membership.

****For the office of the President(i.e, President, 1st Vice/2nd Vice Presidents),applicants must have held Executive office of the Union successfully for at least one Term.

    ARTICLE 11: ELECTIONS/ELECTION COMMITTEE

Elections for National and Regional Executive Offices shall take place every four years to coincide with the end of the term of office of the National and Regional Executives.

There shall be established for the purpose of National and Regional Elections, an election committee appointed by the National Executive Council.

“***The Election Committee shall be made up of one representative from each region and three members from among the NEC.

The National and Regional Elections shall be supervised by the Elections Committee with the technical support of the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Elections shall be held once every four years and at the same time for both the Regional and National Elections.

****Election Committee members shall be members of MUSIGA.

Election Committee members shall not take part in elections as contestants.

The Elections Committee shall be dissolved after close of polls and announcement of official results of the election.

    Their functions shall include:

To define the procedure for elections
    Call for filing of Nominations
    Receive filled Nomination forms
    Vet and recommend Nominees
Conduct and supervise the election of National and Regional Executive Offices
Ensure a free, fair and transparent electioneering processes.

Looking at what is going on currently, it is clear that THE MUSIGA CONSTITUTION HAS BEEN BREACHED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS!

    1. The composition of the elections committee.

The current elections committee was not constituted in accordance with the constitution. In the first place, the current elections committee which Mr. Smart Nkansah Chairs and Mrs. Diana Hopeson is the Secretary was not formed by the National Executive Council as required by the constitution. It was rather formed by the National Executive Committee. This is very wrong. Secondly, the membership of the committee excludes Regional representatives
and 3 NEC members. This is also wrong. It is clear that the current Elections Committee is not valid.

    1. For the office of the President, applicants must have held executive office of the Union successfully for at least one term.
The rational behind this clause is that a person who leads the union as President or acts in the absence of the President is required to have some level of experience and knowledge in union matters. The reason why this clause applies to the president, 1st Vice President and 2nd Vice president is that in the absence of the president, the 1st Vice acts as president and in the absence of both the President and Vice President, the 2nd Vice President acts as president hence the need for the three of them to have served the union in an executive (elected) position for at least one term in order to ensure that they have the requisite experience to lead the union.
It is clear that applicants who have not served executive office in the Union successfully for at least one term do not qualify. This can not be condoned.

Adongo`s economics analysis only good for selling dog meat – Abronye DC fires back.

First vice chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono region has slammed the NDC Member of Parliament for Bolga Central, Isaac Adongo for his weak economic analysis.

Mr Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, indicated that the analysis done by the MP to counter Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s Town Hall Meeting lecture on the state of economy was only fit for “selling dog meat.”The NDC Economic Management Team led by Mr Adongo yesterday, delivered what they termed as the true state of the economy as the forum was purposely organized to address the numerous distortions created by the Akufo-Addo led administration to brighten the gloomy picture of Ghana’s economy.

The NDC’s Economic Lecture Series was held at Mensvic Hotel on April 4, 2019.“In 2018 we went to borrow $750 million and only $119 million was spent on capital expenditure and 631 million dollars on consumption. Our children will have to pay for this and they have nothing to show for it,” he noted.

But, responding to such allegations, the astute communicator for the ruling New Patriotic Party said the supposed economic guru offered no solution to resuscitate the supposed ailing economy under the NPP.To him, ““All the analysis offered by Adongo are ones fit for selling dog meat at Bolga market not for managing an economy like Ghana’s”.

Radio station struck by lightening and thunder; billboards fall on cars in heavy rains in Kumasi

Some giant billboards sited along some of the busiest highways within the Kumasi metropolis were uprooted by a heavy storm that accompanied hours of torrential rain in the Ashanti Regional capital on Thursday night, dikoder.com has gathered.

Many have been displaced after the downpour as roofs of some homes were ripped off; others were forced to evacuate as flood waters invaded their rooms last night.
At Afful Nkwanta, it took a spirited effort by some fire officers to rescue some passengers on board a Toyota Corolla salon car, who had been trapped under a billboard that fell on the vehicle alongside others.

The victims were rushed to a nearby clinic for medical attention, as they all sustained some injuries.
Station Officer at the Regional Fire Office, Augustine Adugba led the rescue team to the scene.
Some onlookers who were present at the accident scene called on city authorities to remove all dangerous billboards from the road side to curb a future incident that may be fatal.
Many houses, in poorly planned and heavily populated areas were submerged by flood waters at Aboabo, Oforikrom, Sawaba and other areas in the city.

Household appliances and other personal effects were seen afloat in the rushing streams of rain water, while stranded individuals sheltered themselves at petrol stations and other obscure places just to avoid either becoming wet or being washed away by the flood.
Parts of the city were thrown into total darkness as electricity was immediately taken off due to the lightening and thunder that came with the rain.
Lightening struck at the studio of Ahotor, 92.5 FM; host of Spot Kick, Philip Appiah, popularly known as “Philipp Inzaghi”, who escaped the lightening by a hair’s breadth, in a post on Facebook said, “I returned to work today after being on a sick bed for a week…and God is soo great to save my life whiles on air for the evening sports show. I would’ve been dead 20minutes ago at the studio sake of Lighting….. Hmmmm, father the entire sports crew thank you for our lives this evening…”.

“I’ m just imagining how my lifeless body would be carried from the studio to the mortuary and the reaction from my family and fans”, he said in another post.

As at the time of filing this story, no loss of life had been reported.
