Mahama Explains Why His Wife Was Reluctant to Campaign For Him This Year

Former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has finally revealed why his wife the Former First Lady Lordina Mahama refused to join his campaign team this year.

It’s been months since active political activities started after the novel coronavirus outbreak which halted several activities globally. After the coronavirus breeze, political parties resumed political activities toward the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections while adhering to safety protocols rolled out by various institutions that were spearheading the fight against the virus.

During this period Ghanaians have seen the former president, his running mate, and other party executives roam the length and breadth of the country to woo electorates to vote back the NDC to power while lobbying for seats for their respective parliamentary candidates.

However, One of the things that went missing was the anchor behind former president John Dramani Mahama which was the former first lady. Members of the opposition parties alleged that the former president was having issues with the former first lady thus her refusal to support his husband in his battle for the presidency.

Former President Mahama has however cleared the air on the matter in an interview monitored by Mynewsghana stating that his wife during the 2016 campaign period experienced so much politics of insults and lies which made her a bit traumatized. Due to that she opted to take a low key role while I do my politics. She’s been very much focused on her foundation lately. Mr Mahama stated in an interview mynewsghana.net monitored.

The former first lady has finally joined the campaign trail and is currently in her home region to solicit votes for her husband seeking to return to power.

Lordina Mahama has been campaigning in Kintampo and Nkoranza areas of the Bono East Region for the NDC parliamentary candidates

In addition to sharing highlights of the People’s Manifesto and John Mahama’s promises to Ghanaians, Mrs. Mahama also invited the people to vote for the NDC and John Mahama because he is a President Ghanaians can trust, and he has a track record of development without discrimination.

  • Time has come for women to sit at the decision-making table – Mahama

Time has come for women to sit at the decision-making table – Mahama

Former President and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has admitted that this is the time for women to join the decision-making table to decide for themselves.

According to him, over the years, men have always taken decisions on behalf of women; a worrying trend which he believes needs to come to an end.

The NDC flagbearer made this known when he was reacting to Joe Biden’s win and Kamala Harris being the first female Vice President of America.

“As the current system has been set up is rigged towards women because men take all the decisions that affect women. I think that the time has come in the world for there to be a shift for women to sit at the decision-making table if not be at the top of the table. I think it is good news for the US because they’ve not only shattered the glass sealing but they’ve punched a big hole in it and it’s only a matter of time that I think a woman would emerge as the President of the United States,” he said in an interview on TV3.

The NDC leader said he and his party are hoping for the same in Ghana because he has a very capable woman as his running mate and is hopeful that the NDC will be successful so that women will occupy their rightful place in governance.

John Dramani Mahama noted that over the years, the United States of America’s elections have moved side by side with that of Ghana and although he will not be quick to ascribe meanings, he is optimistic that the NDC will triumph.

“I don’t want to ascribe anything to it but it looks like anytime power has shifted in the US it has shifted also in Ghana. There is a certain certainty in this world that every four years there is a US election in November and ours in December.”

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), John Dramani Mahama took to his Twitter yesterday to congratulate the President-Elect of the United States of America, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. as he becomes the 46th President of America.

Well, after his tweet, a Ghanaian found it so inappropriate for Mahama to be claiming that since America has changed their President, Ghanaians might also take the same decision and vote for him in the upcoming election in December.

The netizen said Mahama should stop dreaming of becoming the President of Ghana again because his party’s ways are kind of similar to that of Joe Biden’s. Firstly, the USA has changed its President and secondly, Joe Biden’s vice is a lady in the person of Kamala Harris.

Well, the netizen thinks that Mahama is trying to inform Ghanaians that he might also become the next President of Ghana as Joe Biden has become the President of the USA.

2020 polls: Say no to ‘dumsor wura’ Mahama – Bawumia

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to say no to former President John Mahama’s comeback attempt since, according to him, their lives will be full of difficulties and ‘dumsor’ should he succeed in his bid for a second term at the presidency.

Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region on Thursday, 29 October 2020, Dr Bawumia said Ghanaians have found a good and responsible husband in President Nana Akufo-Addo and are not prepared to go back to their ex, Mr. John Mahama.

He said under the Akufo-Addo government, Ghanaian students are enjoying free senior high school while the larger citizenry is benefitting from free electricity, free water, improved access to healthcare under the National Health Insurance Scheme and bumper harvests from the government’s Planting for Food & Jobs program.

According to him, the Akufo-Addo government ended dumsor the moment it took the reins of power, and, thus, rescued Ghanaians from the NDC-inflicted dark days of erratic power supply.

Dr. Bawumia, therefore, wondered why Ghanaians would want to ditch a good and responsible husband in the person of President Akufo-Addo for an ex who only gave them pain and misery.

On this note, John Mahama promised to redevelop the Kasoa dual carriage road into a six-lane road infrastructure to cut down the traffic that ritually develop on the Kasoa-Accra Highway. • Mahama must be sued for ‘genocide’ promise to legalise Okada – Driver group

Mahama must be sued for ‘genocide’ promise to legalise Okada – Driver group

The Ghana Committed Drivers Association (GCDA) has expressed total disappointment in former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama for promising to legalize and regulate the operation of motorbikes, popularly known as Okada, should he win the December 7 polls.

The drivers consider the legalization of motorbikes for commercial purpose contradictory to the Road Traffic Regulation 2012 and Legislative Instrument (LI) 2180, which ban commercialization of motorbikes in Ghana.

Chairman of GCDA Charles Danso, in an interview on Yensempa on Onua FM on Wednesday, August 26 stated categorically that legalizing okada is like introducing genocide in Ghana.

Mr. Danso wants former president Mahama to be dragged to court for publicly announcing his intention to legalize the operation of okada in the country for commercial purposes.

“Former President Mahama needs to be dragged to court because what he is saying is like introducing genocide where people are given guns to kill.

“We have laws which forbid motorbikes to be used for commercial purposes and this same law was gazetted when Mr. Mahama was president,” he stated.

The Road Traffic Regulation, according to Mr. Danso, only allows Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to register motorbikes for courier services but not for commercial purposes hence do not understand the rationale behind former president’s intent.

Mr. Danso lamented on the mutilation Okada had had on the society, counting the huge number of lives lost through motorbike accidents as well as those who have been rendered inoperative.

He bewailed that okada has caused more harm in society than good and therefore drivers would forever resist its legalization by any government.

He threatened that the day the government would commercialize operation of okada in Ghana would be the same day all road safety laws regulating commercial drivers would cease.

The chairman for committed drivers thus appealed to political parties to desist from politicking with issues of national interest.

Tell Ghanaians you won’t repeat past mistakes – Asantehene to Mahama

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has admonished NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to assure Ghanaians that the mistakes that happened under his tenure as President will not be repeated if he is re-elected in the upcoming December polls.
