  • Musiga Elections “I Suspect Foul Play By An Aspirant -Ras Caleb”

Musiga Elections “I Suspect Foul Play By An Aspirant -Ras Caleb”

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi who is aspiring for the MUSIGA president has placed an injunction on the upcoming MUSIGA elections which was previously scheduled for today.

According to him, he suspects a foul play by an aspirant to rig the election so he had no other alternative than to take the issue to court.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz Fm, Ras Caleb revealed that he placed an injunction on the elections due to anomalies in the voters list and the way the union want the election to be conducted.

When quizzed by Andy Dosty if he suspected a foul play, Ras Caleb replied by saying: “I suspect foul play by an aspirant and there are mistakes too. The major thing is a foul play; I know It”.

When quizzed if his opponent Bessa Simons was behind the aforementioned, Ras Caleb said: ” Well, He (Bessa Simons) is the 1st Vice, Obour is the president, Rev. Yawson is the 2nd Vice. Those in the national level have access for doing card. I don’t have access to do card or command anyone to do a card so the aspirants…Me my suspicion is an aspirant in the national level not the regional level.

Right now I Cannot talk about the name because the case is in the High Court now.

But I suspect someone in the national is endorsing that kind of thing that is going on”.

Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi also indicated that prior to the injunction, he wrote a petition on July 1 to address his concerns but to no avail so he had no alternative than to place an injunction on the MUSIGA elections.

“Before the injunction, I wrote a petition on July 1 to address my concerns but it did not attract any response.” He stressed.

The MUSIGA Elections is now scheduled for July 17.

  • DEFENCE MINISTER URGED TO STEP DOWN FROM CHEREPONI PEACE PROCESS

DEFENCE MINISTER URGED TO STEP DOWN FROM CHEREPONI PEACE PROCESS

Security analysts have urged, Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, to step down from a process to end the renewed conflict in Chereponi.

The Defense Minister, who is a Konkomba – one of the two factions in the long-drawn-out conflict – has been accused of using the military to back his Konkomba tribe against the Chokosis.

The Minister has admitted that his association with the Konkomba tribe has festered the perception of bias but told D FM news his hands are clean.

He said he is committed to bringing peace to the region and vowed to use his office to achieve that.

“I do not think that he is guilty of bias…but in mediation once a party feels you are biased the ethics say you have to withdraw. The perception is strong enough.

The Konkombas and Chokosis tribes have frequently waged war against each other over a small piece of land in the poverty-stricken Chereponi district.

The clashes in April this year displaced some 1, 860 residents, according to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) estimates. The long-standing conflict in the town has been blamed on the government’s inability to adequately resource police to deal with the fluid security situation.
