CDH Holdings refutes claims it owes defunct Capital Bank GH₵100million

CDH Holdings has refuted claims it owed defunct Capital Bank GH₵100million.

The institution is threatening to counter sue the Receiver of the defunct bank for defamation.

The Group CEO of CDH Holdings, Emmanuel Adu Sarkodie said, “The suit itself is very funny; you don’t make a distinction between CDH as a holding company and CDH Savings and Loans. As a matter of fact, for defaming the name of the Savings and Loans, we are going to bring an action against them.”

Earlier, Defunct Capital Bank had gone to court to recover over ¢100 million being debts owed it by CDH Financial Holding and CDH Savings and Loans.

The bank, which was among the two banks that were taken over by state-owned GCB Bank over severe liquidity challenges, wants the High Court to order the Defendants to pay the full amount [ a total of ¢109, 390,634.70] plus the accrued interest.

The defunct bank also wants the Court to order the Bank of Ghana to withdraw the licenses of the Defendants (CDH Financial Holding and CDH Savings and Loans) for their inability to pay back investment on maturity dates.

But Mr. Adu Sarkodie said “it’s very infantile” for the Receiver of defunct to request the BoG to withdraw the license of CDH Holdings and CDH Savings and Loans

Meanwhile, CEO of CDH Savings and Loans, Martin Asamoah expressed utmost surprise at the suit by the receiver of the defunct capital bank.

He noted that the CDH legal team and that of the receiver had several meetings ever since the crises started.

“We have funds of the capital bank and they also have funds with us, because we are trading together and have been cooperating ever since the crises started’ he stated.

‘When the receiver wrote to us, we even initially put in our claims of how much we have with the capital bank, we met the lawyer of the receiver and had intensive discussions’ Mr. Asamoah added.

He said the two parties agreed to the figures and that a careful look at the figures indicates that the defunct capital bank even owed CDH. ‘If I show you the mail from the lawyer, the net figure per our agreement in February 2018 was supposed to be GH₵55 million. They are suing us for GH₵100 million and I’m wondering how it got there,” Mr. Asamoah lamented.

    Statement of claims

Capital Bank makes the following six claims against CDH Financial Holding and CDH Savings and Loans:

    1. An order directed against the defendants jointly and severally for the recovery of an amount of ¢83,489,123.29 and US$5,289,315.07 being the outstanding amount agreed as owed to the Plaintiff by the Defendants [CDH Financial Holding and CDH Savings and Loans] on or about December 31, 2017.

    1. Interest on GHC 83.489,123. 29 calculated at the prevailing commercial bank lending rates from December 31, 2018, till the date of final payment.

    1. Interest on US$5,289,315.07 calculated at the Bank of Ghana United States dollar lending rate from December 31, 2018, till the date of final payment.4. Damages for breach of contract.

    1. Costs.

    1. An order directed at the Bank of Ghana to withdraw the licenses of the defendants for their inability to pay back investment on maturity dates.

    1. Any other reliefs) as may seem fit to the honorable court.

Ghana striker Majeed Waris finally scores for Nantes in win over Montpellier

Majeed Warris doubled the score for his side with 15 minutes left on the clock

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris scored his first goal for his club side Nantes on Tuesday night when they defeated Montpellier 3-0 in the French League Cup.

The attacker scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday in his 12th appearance to help the top tier side advance to the next round of the competition.

Waris joined the Ligue 1 side in the summer with the hopes of increasing the attacking options of the club after some impressive previous stints in France.

Despite making a decent showing in the league so far by setting up some goals for his team-mates his inability to score piled pressure on him.

But he eased the pressure on himself when he received a straight pass, advanced and hit a powerful left foot, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The goal his first since joining Nantes on loan from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

The player was loaned by FC Porto and has a contract until 2022 with the Dragons.

  • Big challenge for returning hero Lampard – Essien

Big challenge for returning hero Lampard – Essien

Lampard’s Derby side eliminated English giants Manchester United from the competition

Michael Essien says eliminating Chelsea in the EFL Cup will be a tough ask for Frank Lampard and Derby County.

Frank Lampard’s Stamford Bridge return in the EFL Cup with Derby County will be a big but difficult night, according to former Chelsea team-mate Michael Essien.

For the first time in his fledgeling managerial career, Lampard will be in the opposition dugout against the club where he won 11 major trophies – including three Premier League titles and the Champions League.

His Derby side booked their fourth-round berth with a penalty shoot-out win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the Rams have drawn against Chelsea in the subsequent draw.

Essien played alongside Lampard for the Blues and expects the 40-year-old to get a huge welcome from the fans, but does not expect another cup upset.

“We all know what he did for Chelsea, he is a legend,” he told Omnisport. “He’s coming home so it will be a big night.

“I’m sure he’s looking to win but it’s not easy at Stamford Bridge.”

Derby arrives at Stamford Bridge unbeaten in their last five Championship matches, a run that has included victories over promotion rivals Sheffield United and West Brom.

Chelsea go into the tie having progressed from 18 of their last 19 EFL Cup matches against non-Premier League sides, and the Blues have won their previous eight home matches against the Rams.

  • FIFA bans Kwesi Nyantakyi for life; fines him over GHC 2.4 million

FIFA bans Kwesi Nyantakyi for life; fines him over GHC 2.4 million

    Former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi

Fly to New York from $1318. Book now to get the best price.

Former Ghana FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has been banned for life by world football governing body FIFA.

According to FIFA, Nyantakyi is banned from taking part in all football-related activities and the ban takes effect immediately.

The life ban follows extensive investigations by FIFA’s Adjudicatory Chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee into the conduct of Mr Nyantakyi who was captured in an explosive expose by Ghanaian investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The adjudicatory chamber found Mr Nyantakyi guilty of having violated Article 19 (conflict of interest), Article 21 (Bribery and corruption) and Article 22 (Commission) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, 2012 edition.

Mr Nyantakyi has additionally been fined 500,000 Swiss Francs (over GHS 2.4million).

According to a FIFA statement, Mr Nyantakyi was notified today about the ban.

This brings to a sad end of the glittering career of the man considered as the most successful GFA President in the history of Ghana football.

Nyantakyi reigned as GFA President for 13 years and helped Ghana’s Black Stars to qualify for three successive FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014). Nyantakyi rose through the ranks to become the Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He was highly tipped to take over from current CAF President Ahmad Ahmad in the near future.

Kwesi Nyantakyi was initially suspended on June 8 for 90 days by the adjudicatory chamber of Fifa’s independent Ethics Committee. The ban was later extended for an additional 45 days on September 6.

    What’s Nyantakyi’s crime

He was filmed in an undercover investigation by controversial Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas taking $65,000 (£48,000) from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman.

Soon after the ban on 8 June Nyantakyi resigned from the posts he had held with football’s world governing body, Fifa, and the Confederation of African Football (Caf).
He left his role on the Fifa Council and stepped aside from his roles with Caf including as 1st vice-president, the most senior figure at the confederation after its president, Ahmad.

As well as the Fifa suspension Nyantakyi also resigned as president of the GFA on 8 June following an executive committee meeting.

Nyantakyi has always denied any wrongdoing.

Medikal fuels relationship rumors with Fella Makafui with latest photo

    Medikal and Fella Makafui

Medikal is indeed “chopping” down actress Fella Makafui as several blogs have reported in the past.

Of course, he won’t openly admit that they are indeed going out but things between them look quite obvious anyway.

He recently posted a picture of him sitting together with Fella Makafui in a fancy room which he captioned

“My bestie de lie me but I still de listen”.

Interestingly, he locked the comment section of the picture to prevent people from criticizing him.

But seriously, will anyone believe they are just friends? Of course, their so-called “friendship” will definitely come with some benefits since Medikal himself has confessed in the past that he is attracted to girls with big butt and nice shape — something Sister Debbie lacked.

Now, why do we know or think he has indeed ended things with Sister Deborah?

So apart from the fact that Sister Deborah completely deleted all his pictures from her social media pages and unfollowed him too, she’s decided not to talk about him at all.

Medikal recently released his video for “How much remix” which features Sarkodie and Paedae and surprisingly Debbie didn’t post anything about it even though there was so much buzz about the video.

Again, Deborah seems to have found comfort in her new pal, Lydia Forson and the two for some time now have been quite inseparable too.

At least now he’s dating a girl who is his age mate lol. Can we blame him?

  • Delay closes down her Dworwulu shoe boutique over poor sales

Delay closes down her Dworwulu shoe boutique over poor sales

    Delay

Perhaps we should blame President Nana Akufo Addo for what seems to be an increase in Ghana’s unending hardship—which has led the loudmouth Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay to close down her 2-by-4 shoe boutique located at Dzorwulu near the Fidelity Bank over poor sales and tax headaches.

Delay’s Shoe Shop which she refers to it as a plush boutique, carved out of a small space—which in the past doubled as a studio for her Delay Show has finally been closed down, GhanaCelebrities.Com can confirm.

And since Delay has some time remaining on the lease, she has turned the shop into an office, to be used for whatever, and also to keep her “big girl status” in Accra going—images she shared on her Snapchat a few days ago confirmed the shop-to-office conversion.

We’ve gathered from neighbours that, business dwindled to nothing and apart from friends who visited the shop, no one entered to make any purchase—and as such, this could mainly be the reason why it has been shut down.

Apparently, on top of the no-sales, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has been on the flat hard butt of Delay—and the tax headaches finally informed her decision to shut the non-profit making business down.

Since the conversion, Delay has not managed to even change the signage (signboard)—as her new office (old shop) continues to display the signage of her boutique. We do not want to say she has no money for a new signage as she has probably ordered for one to be made from Dubai for her–you know how these girls brag.

One thing certain about Ghana’s economy is: it will humble a lot of the big talkers.

Efia Odo deletes pictures of her and ‘love’ Revloe from Instagram

    Efia Odo and Revloe

It seems all is not well between Kwese TVs Efia Odo and rich boyfriend Kweku Revloe.

The actress and television presenter had in the past flaunted him all over social media — constantly declaring her love for him.

However, recently Efia Odo has deleted all pictures she had with Revloe from her social media pages.

That’s quite unusual for someone who had been seen “all over the place” with this guy to do. And usually, these breakups start with the pulling down of pictures from social media pages.

Again, Revloe was also captured on a date with a mystery lady and he was acting very nice to her — maybe too nice.

Afia Odo, however, reacted, saying nothing was wrong with their relationship and that Revloe always treats every woman like a queen.

Whatever the case may be, we will be here to keep you updated.

Too much pressure on me to marry Shatta Michy – Shatta Wale

    Shatta Wale and Michy

‘Gringo’ hit maker and Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he’s having to deal with huge pressure on him from Ghanaians to marry his baby mama and long time girlfriend Shatta Michy.

Their relationship had been suffering for some time now after they announced their breakup in April but the controversial musician stunned the massive crowd at the recent launch of his ‘Reign Album’ when he proposed to Shatta Michy midway through his performance.

He pulled out a ring and asked: “Shatta Michy will you marry me” before dropping to one knee in front of thousands of his raucous fans at the Fantasy Dome of the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The couple later embraced and Shatta put a ring on Shatta Michy’s finger before giving her a passionate kiss.

Appearing on Joy FM’s Morning show, Shatta Wale stated that the many calls by his fans and followers to get married will be headed as he’s sure to walk Shatt Michy to the alter in 2018.

“…We’re working on our wedding so people should watch out next year. A whole lot of Ghanaians are worried, people are just giving me pressure asking me when will you marry her? People are giving me pressure and stuff but I really want to watch God’s time. I want to do something nice for her because she’s been with me for so long and she’s supported me.
