A/R: RITUAL KILLINGS: MAN ARRESTED FOR KILLING PREGNANT WOMAN AND TRYING TO KILL ANOTHER ONE

Killings anywhere is a big subject and when those killings especially become serial, it become bigger headlines.

Past week, news of the alleged murder of two boys by a 28-year-old self-acclaimed architect, Richard Appiah at Alaska Junction in Abessim of the Sunyani Municipality in the Bono Region got many talking.

IGP visited the community, promised to bring finality to ritual killings, and vowed to deal with crime perpetrators according to the law of the country.

But it seems things are escalating and worse crimes are happening in some parts of the country specifically in the Ashanti Region.

A man believed to be in his early 40s has been caught by the residents of Adjamesu in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region attacking a pregnant pregnant woman with a machete in her room whiles her husband was in the bathroom.

According to the report, the incident happened around 10 pm last night while the victim was alone in the room.

Husband to the victim, Mr. Kwame Afrifa disclosed that the suspect sneaked into the abode of his pregnant wife and begun struggling with her trying to dissecting her belly for the reasons best known to the peperteator alone.

Bra Kwame added that the helpless woman shouted weirdly which drew the attention of his elder brother outside the house and he quickly rushed to the room to ascertain what was going on.

The suspect sensing danger, came out of the room with the sharp matchete to slash anyone trying to venture but with the intimidation on the part of the people gathered there to shoot him, he feared and subsequently overpowered.

“He was naked, holding matchete pretending to be mad person to beat the minds of the locals but when beaten mercilessly, he confessed to be in a gang of Four (4) hunting for pregnant women to kill them for their bloody sakawa business”, the husband of the victim, Bra Kwame told Silver FM’s FILASCO DEGENERAL today.

He confessed killing a pregnant woman in another locality with his gang but luck eluded him trying to kill another that fateful day.

Both hands were tied to the legs and was hit from all angels by the angry locals.

The other Three (3) members were able to outsmart the people and run.

The timely intervention of the police saved his life.

He (suspect) has therefore been handing over to the Dominase Police after severe beatings whiles the victim has also been sent to the Dominase health facility for treatment.

The prophetess, whose name is yet to be determined according to the report was seen with another guy kidnapping the Boy ( Deceased) to a nearby river in the Area.

The informant narrating the Incidence stressed that the guy Holding the boy threatened him ( Informant) with Knife if he tries to follow them.

The informant According to him rushed to the Town to inform other guys in the town about the scene.
The mob upon reaching the River didn’t see the Kidnappers and returned to the Community.

The Boys later proceeded to the Kidnapper ( guy’s) house to inspect his room and upon breaking into the room, they saw the beheaded body of the Eight (8) year old boy in the room.

9-year-old boy shot dead at Awutu Breku Awubia Festival

A 9-year-old boy has been shot dead during a gun firing display as part of the custom in the celebration of the Awubia Festival by the Chief and People of Awutu Breku in the Central Region.

Per the custom of the Chiefs and people of Awutu Breku, gunshot follows immediately after the Chief Priest(Otwor) has finished performing rituals to the gods at the durbar grand and this nontarget gunshot, unfortunately, hit the boy who was pushing a disabled boy whiles others are in a coma.

According to information, many people were holding guns with live bullets and were firing indiscriminately at the durbar ground.

The festival has come to end abruptly as a result of the incident and the police have cordoned the durbar ground

Residents raise alarm over gallamsey activities destroying their water bodies, call for immediate intervention:

Residents of Anumso, Ofoase, Ohwimase, Achiase, and its environs have complained bitterly over how illegal mining activities are causing the communities.

The worried residents speaking to this reporter indicated that their only source of water, River Annuru has been polluted and coloured by the activities of these illegal miners who are suspected to be operating with a chanffan machine on the said river.
Residents of the aforementioned towns which fall under respective districts such as Bosome Freho, Bosomtwi, and Asante Akyem are mainly known to be farmers. But their hopes in gaining from the farming activities are gradually fading out as these illegal miners keep on tormenting their farming activities.

Nana Tabi Bonsu lll, Chief of Bomfa Akyiase speaking to this reporter disclosed that he and the entire traditional council has lodged a formal complaint to the Pemenase police station in the Bosome Freho district of the Ashanti region so that they could help fight the galamsay operators who invade in their river bodies to mine.

Briefing the media, Okyiame Sarpong, chief linguist to the Akyiase chief cautioned that whoever’s found in the Anuro river will be chased out and dealt with.

He pleaded with the District police commander, Ashanti Regional Police command, and IGP to collaborate with the chiefs to fight this canker.

The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection through a project dubbed “Ghana Productive Safety Net” have trained and giving start-up capitals to about 300 people in Offinso North District of the Ashanti region to begin production and petty trading in order to make meaningful livelihoods.

Speaking in an interview with Asta/Winners Fm’s Nana Kwadwo Adu during the passing out and handing over ceremony at Akumadan, Mr. Desmond Duametu National Officer in charge of the project revealed that this initiative by President Akuffo Addo led NPP’s government is aimed at helping People of Ghana to get something doing on their own without always depending on Government for jobs.

President Joe Biden promised on Friday to hunt down the jihadists behind Thursday’s suicide bombing.

It is the most extreme and violent of all the jihadist militant groups in Afghanistan.

Roughly 5,000 US troops are still stationed at Kabul airport, processing Afghans desperate to leave.

This is the first US drone strike reported in Afghanistan since Thursday’s blast.

“The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target,” said Captain Bill Urban of Central Command. “We know of no civilian casualties.”

A leading expert has warned an easing of restrictions has led Germany to the brink of a third wave. Intensive care doctors warn that partial lockdown measures must be put back in place.

Intensive care doctors say some measures should be put back in place to avoid another resurgence

The number of coronaviruses in Germany grew 20% in the past week, as lockdown restrictions are gradually eased, an expert at the Robert Koch Institute for infectious diseases (RKI) said Tuesday.

The figures were released as the country’s intensive care doctors warn of the need for an “immediate return” to partial lockdown to avoid a dangerous third wave of coronavirus cases.

“We are exactly on the flank of the third wave. That can no longer be disputed. And, at this point, we have eased the restrictions and that is speeding up the exponential growth,” RKI epidemiologist Dirk Brockmann told German broadcaster ARD.

COVID-19 Cases in Germany Rises

Brockmann said the loosening of measures was particularly unhelpful given the exponential growth that has occurred with the British virus variant B117.

“It has been totally been irrational to loosen up here. It’s just fueling this exponential growth.”

German intensive care doctors on Monday warned that some measures should be put back in place to avoid another resurgence.

“From the data we currently have and with the spread of the British mutation, we would argue strongly to return immediately into a lockdown to avoid a strong third wave,” Christian Karagiannidis, director of Germany’s intensive care register, told broadcaster RBB.

The Director of the Kenya Anti-corruption Commission and Director of the Kenya School of Law as well as a Pan-Africanist, Professor Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, in a zoom interview with Maxwell Nkansah stated how disappointed he is by the president of Ghana.

According to him, the President of Ghana at the beginning of his tenure of office had the vision to uplift the country in terms of industrialization and development but so far there is nothing to show with growing tales of mismanagement.

He then added that he wishes the President of Ghana could rebuild himself to becoming the enhanced President the country needs. Professor Patrick Lumumba also bemoaned the spectacle of the parliament of Ghana seeking the approval of payment for the presidential spouse.

He further stated that the demonstration by the Ghanaian youth on the street of Accra, the capital city of Ghana evidently shows the frustration of voters and how tough life is becoming under the leadership of the Akufor Addo administration.

He said, the president still has the intellectual fire powers of leadership but things haven’t been the way he rumored would go for him.

In the course of the interview, Professor Lumumba’s opinion was asked whether the short-term implementation of the ECO currency is sustainable. “I believe the year duration of 3 to 4 years is short for the implementation of the new currency which will be used by the whole African continent.

According to him, a maximum of 10 years should be used to implement the ECO currency due to the difference in economic conditions within various African countries to deal with their micro and macro-economic issues”. He added. He stated that this was the vision of the First President and the founder of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He said he held the view that it was far overdue for such steps to be taken and believed it will become one of the strong currencies in the world.

The Pan-Africanist PLO Lumumba also lamented on seeing the Africa he loves with his heart having a continent that will be free from corruption. He further stated that in the course of fighting corruption, deliberate actions must be taken to combat corruption by making an example of those who participate in it.

Loch Otieno Lumumba stressed the need to keep corrupt people out of office and harped on the need to strip public officials of any ill-gotten wealth while in the exercise of their duties.
