CPP executives gear up for 2020 election

As a demonstration of their commitment and pledge to the party and its progress, newly elected executives of the Convention People’s Party, took an oath of allegiance during their swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, August 26, 2020.

The event which was held at the party’s headquarters in Accra saw the Flagbearer, Ivor Kobina Greensheet, and other executives of the party, officially being ushered into their respective leadership positions.

This follows the party’s national delegates congress held in the Eastern Region on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Greenstreet won 213 of the total valid votes cast against Bright Akwetey and Divine Ayivor who polled 27 and 14 of the total valid votes cast respectively.

Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Kumakuma, who was the 2012 running-mate of the then CPP flagbearer Dr Abu Sakara Foster, was elected National Chairperson.

Nana Yaa Akyimpim Jantuah, former Public Affairs Director of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), was elected General Secretary with 187 votes against acting General Secretary James Kwabena Bomfeh popularly known as Kabila who polled 67 votes.

Emmanuel Ogbojor won 125 votes to become Vice Chairman of the party against Onsy Kwame Nkrumah, self-acclaimed son of CPP’s founder Kwame Nkrumah who polled 84 votes.

Meanwhile, Flagbearer, Mr. Greenstreet has entreated Ghanaians to be circumspect with their votes. He believes a vote for the CPP is a vote for the Ghanaian populace whereas a vote for the two big parties, New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress a wasted one.

“People of Ghana, a vote for the CPP is a vote for yourself. For the past 28 years, our country has been governed by the NPP and the NDC who have ruled more to serve the interest of they themselves and not the interest of the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Coronavirus: Conference of Heads of Basics Schools calls on government to pay them allowances

Conference of Heads of Basics Schools (COHBS) has called on the government to give teachers some allowances considering their efforts to educate students in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.

COHBS says that they can also be considered as frontline workers as they assume the role of nurses in their respective educational instutitions.

General Secretary of COHBS, Alex Ackah, wants the government to incentivize them for their efforts.

“We are looking forward that the government should consider the good works that we are doing. When the government gives us something it is not bad. I am talking about cash. We are also frontline workers because we are dealing with students whose status we don’t know of. We are able to identify people with high temperature and refer them to the nurses,” he said.

Alex Ackah also called on those responsible for the delivery of the hot meals to basic school pupils as promised by the government, to come earlier than their usual time.

He says that it will be better for the meals to be delivered at about 10:45am as that is the midpoint for classes.

“The midday is at 12 o’clock and we are closing at 12:45 pm and at that time the students will be going home. I think that between 10:45 am and 11:45 am, it will be appropriate for the students to eat. At 10:45 am, we have done two periods and it is left with another two periods. So that will be the midday for teaching and learning. The midday is 10:45 am. If any caterer who wants to accept our negotiation, then it should be around that time,” he said.

    PPEs matters

On the matters of the supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs), Mr. Alex Ackah commended the government for its efforts.

He says that the government has been quick to supply PPEs to guarantee the safety of students as they prepare for their Basic Education Certificate Examinations.

Partey leads Ghanaian ranking FIFA 21 as Ayews miss out on the top 5

Despite their impressive output for their respective clubs in the just-ended football season, the Ayew brothers could not make the top five of Ghanaians in FIFA 21 ratings.

Jordan had a record-breaking season where he overtook Tony Yeboah as the highest-scoring Ghanaian in the history of the English Premier League.

His form saw him bag four awards at Crystal Palace’s end of season awards.

While Jordan was raking up the numbers in the Premier League, his elder brother Andre was also leading Swansea City’s promotion hunt.

But the outstanding displays of the two Black Stars forward could not get them a place into the top five Ghanaian players on FIFA 21.

Leading the ranking is Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey who has been heavily linked with Arsenal.

Kwadwo Asamoah may be warming the benches of Inter Milan but his performance in previous seasons was enough to earn him a second spot on the list.

Fiorentina forward Kevin-Prince Boateng is third on the list with China-based Emmanuel Boateng coming fourth.

Fifth on the list is Frank Acheampong who recently made skipper of his China side. Jordan and Andre were sixth and seventh respectively.

We deployed the military to seal borders not towns – Ghana Armed Forces

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has said the recent deployment of officers across the country was to help security agencies secure the country’s borders and not to harass civilians.

Brigadier General Abraham Yeboah Nsiah, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, said contrary to speculations, soldiers deployed in border communities, particularly Wudoaba in the Ketu South Municipality executed their duties professionally.

In a press briefing when he led a delegation of the Armed Forces from Accra and the 66 Artillery Regiment, Ho, and heads of sister security agencies in the Municipality to visit officers deployed to the area.

The delegation visited about five checkpoints, being jointly manned by soldiers, Immigration and Customs officers, and the Police to encourage them.

Brigadier General Nsiah described as false media reports that GAF had withdrawn personnel from the area at the end of the voter registration exercise.

This, he said, gave the impression that the military presence was to prevent people from participating in the voter registration exercise. He referred to a video in which some residents reportedly said the soldiers left the town after the voter registration exercise was completed.

However, the GOC Southern Command said that was not the case because soldiers were not deployed in the area where the interview was granted.

“We deployed soldiers to seal the border, not the towns. That town is about two kilometres away from the border itself so you don’t expect to see a soldier there in the middle of the town, where there’s no border crossing.

“So to hear that soldiers have withdrawn since the completion of the registration exercise is completely false,” he said. Brigadier General Nsiah said he was satisfied with the visit to the area and noted that the security forces would not be distracted by the negative comments.

“We remain focused and committed to the security of this country,” he added.

Don’t Stress Yourself Over Politicians Who Only Come To You Every Four Years To Lie. Focus On Your Life – Yvonne Nelson Counsels The Youth

Yvonne Nelson has deemed it fit to counsel the teeming youth not to meddle in politically-motivated arguments and fights in the interest of some politician ahead of a very tense political season.

According to the actress, all politicians are Liars and they come to the populace with deceit and concocted flowery words to court their attention and win their votes after every four years.

In two separate tweets, Yvonne Nelson bemoaned the breakdown and dysfunctional nature of state institutions and how it will always have to take bribes for one to get a passport which is testament to the fact that the politician does not even believe in what he is running.

The hard part of his tweet is where he cautioned the youth to be circumspect in the dealings with politicians during this politically volatile season where they are ready to do whatever it takes to win power.

“You see how hard it is to even acquire a passport? You go bribe tireah! Yeaa! Most of your leaders don’t even have their kids in Ghana! They don’t even believe in the system they are running!

“They are LIARS! Playing with our minds every 4 years! Don’t stress charley! Focus on your life, don’t waste your energy on unnecessary fights and arguments. They need you this year, next year you be borla,” she said.

African politicians have been described as self-seeking, individualistic personalities who do not take the needs of their people to heart. The development of the African continent has been left to politicians who in most instances are either too clueless to cause a change or too selfish to think about the entire populace and their needs.

On the back of that, Yvonne Nelson believes when the politicians start to visit every nook and cranny of the nation with the neatly woven message to win power, no one should pay heed to their rhetorics because the proof of the pudding has always been in the eating.

December 7, 2020, is a very important date on Ghana’s political calendar where the nation will be aiming to elect new leaders or renew the mandate of the incumbents. The two major political parties. NPP and NDC, are poised to win power come what may.

Sarkodie has secured an interview with America-based video and news website Vlad TV through the push by his fanbase Sarknation.

However, the rapper was met with a big surprise of his life, when the interview that has to do with entertainment and showbiz was turned into a History session where he was put on the edge to narrate the history of Ghana.

Sarkodie carefully dodged most of the questions with the explanation that he does not have all the knowledge about what transpired in past and how Ghana was colonized by the Europeans.

DJ Vlad, the interviewer also asked other questions about the Akan tribe, the wars and the first president Kwame Nkrumah.

All these questions were too hard for Sarkodie who clearly was not prepared for such a big surprise where he is being asked to discuss the classical history of Ghana, personalities and events.

The Vlad TV interview is hosted by DJ Vlad on Vladtv.com where he talks to celebrities and public personalities about issues of concern surrounding politics, entertainment, sports and general knowledge.

The full Sarkodie-Vlad TV interview will be released soon but the first snippet of it had Sarkodie sweating profusely as he had to tackle History questions…he obviously will now know that he always has to prepare for surprises especially when he is being interviewed on these international platforms.

“NPP Is Not A Very Serious Party” – Kennedy Agyapong Goes Haywire

Maverick politician Kennedy Agyapomg has launched a verbal attack on his party the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by describing it a political institution that lacks forceful clear-minded leadership.

In an interview on his television station Net2 TV, the Assin Central MP lamented over the lackadaisical attitude of leaders of the party who have given preferential treatment to some members who had prior to the party winning the election, ruled out their chances.

According to Kennedy Agyapog, until some individuals like Kofi Job who has been awarded Ashanti Regional road contracts are expunged from the party, he will deem the NPP as unserious.

The reason for his outburst stems from his displeasure at an award of a contract to one Kofi Job who used to denigrate the then-candidate Akufo-Addo and used very unpalatable words to describe his person. Kennedy Agyapong believes, if NPP were a very serious party, it wouldn’t entertain the presence of a sycophant like Kofi Job.

NPP is not a serious party that is why they can award contracts to Kofi Job. This man used to insult President Akufo-Addo and describe his mouth as too dysfunctional to contain a sip of milk.

Why should such a man be allowed in the party and even be given Ashanti Regional roads contract? I don’t think we are serious as a party.
