Vice president Mahamudu Bawumia has established that works to install free Wi-Fi in all Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country is about 80% complete.
The project which according to him will be instituted in all 722 senior high schools in the country, is intended to broaden the scope of education, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), research, and knowledge acquisition in these schools.
Speaking at the commissioning of government’s free tertiary Wi-Fi project in Accra, Mr. Bawumia described the project as a transformational one.
He said many doubted the idea when it was first conceived.
“The ongoing Wi-Fi in senior high schools will be accelerated. We are covering all 722 senior high schools in the country. They will all have free Wi-Fi and at the moment, over 80% of the works on the project is complete. This is going to be a very transformational project. When we started, it looked like something impossible but it has been realized,” he asserted.
Dr. Bawumia further said all 260 District Education Offices and 46 Colleges of Education in the country will also be beneficiaries of the government’s ‘free Wi-Fi for schools’ project.
Management of the University of Ghana (UG) has reversed its decision to increase the facility user fees for students for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The students by this release, are directed to pay the exact amount they paid for the previous academic year for the 2020/2021 academic year.
“After due consideration, management of the University of Ghana has decided to reverse the fees published for the 2020-2021 academic year.”
“The 2019-2020 fees will therefore be applied for the 2020-2021 academic year. The new fees for the 2020-2021 academic year will, therefore, be published at the UG website.”
About a month ago, the management of the University of Ghana and the Ghana Institute of Journalism increased the facility user fees for the next academic year.
The decision led to a mass protest on social media as the management of the two public universities were labeled as insensitive to the hardship brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
UG proposed a 12 percent increment while GIJ increased the fees by five percent.
Ft. Lt Jerry John Rawlings who died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital from Coronavirus on 12th November 2020 is said to have tomorrow been a week after his departure after battling with a little illness.
Family of the former president has stated that there won’t be any one-week celebration of the late statesman but citizens of the country who have sincere love for the ex-president have made cloth in honour of Rawlings just to celebrate his one week.
This piece of cloth appears exceptionally nice looking at the African designs which were used to decorate the material.

A group calling itself the Concerned Voter’s Movement has alleged that the Multimedia Group and it’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kwasi Twum has received some $50million from saboteurs with the sole aim of using the media conglomerate Joy News, Joy FM, and its sister Stations to destroy the chances of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP Government ahead of the 2020 general elections.
In a statement signed by its founder Mr. Razak Opoku and copied to Mynewsghana.net, the group alleged that The Multimedia Group has received an assurance of getting a $200million contract as a reward when the opposition National Democratic Congress wins power in the coming elections.

In the coming days, the Multimedia Group Limited would use their platform to cause public disaffection for the NPP by pushing the agenda of Scandals hiding behind the investigative work of Martin Amidu and Daniel Domelevo.
Those who allegedly offered Mr. Kwasi Twum $50million, according to inside sources within Multimedia Group Limited, are on his neck to do everything possible to destroy the chances of NPP, and if that becomes successful they are allegedly ready to offer his company Multimedia Group Limited a contract worth over $200million after the Victory of NDC and John Mahama in the December 7th, 2020 general elections.
The interest of Multimedia Group Limited has overshadowed the company’s professional and ethical considerations.
A man whose name was identified as Ame Edjeket,41 years of age has been arrested for caging his wife with whom he has eight children for over three years on the basis that she is a witch and responsible for all his misfortune.
According to reports, the woman Gladys was said to have been kept in a room where she is not allowed to go out from instead she is made to urinate and got to private inside the same room where she was made to sleep.
Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu who brought the case to the limelight stated that, the man got his wife pregnant three times while he caged her in the room.

A video sighted online shows how a guy was very much embarrassed by a lady for stealing her money.
It was a total embarrassing scene when the lady met the guy and confronted him, the lady was no way ready to calm down despite the people around who tried to calm her down.
The lady was heard in the video complaining and lamenting on how the guy had made away with her money and was very furious as she displayed her anger at the scene.
A deadly road accident has occurred at the exact stretch of road that dancehall queen Ebony Reigns tragically died at two years ago.
According to reports, an accident has occured in the same area, which is on the Kumasi-Sunyani stretch of road around Nyamebekyere near Mankraso.
An eyewitness who witnessed the crash sent photos to musician Kwame A Plus along with a cry for help as people are lying down with no ambulances or police coming around to send them to hospital.
“Kwame I’m from sunyani coming, there has been a serious accident at Ebony reign had an accidents. The saddest part is that we tried several times to reach an embulance but no avail. Kindly contact the authorities to act asap to avoid loosing souls.Thanks,” the eyewitness said.

Dr Francis Bawaana Dukura, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jirapa Constituency in the Upper West Region has appeared in court on charges of alleged fraud and money laundering.
Dr Dakura is alleged to have collected GH¢3.5 million cedis equivalent of $900,000 between April 2016 and January 2017, under the pretext of selling a 2.8 acres of land belonging to the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) at Roman Ridge to the Chief Executive Officer of Prefos Company Limited.
The MP pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretenses, falsification of accounts, forgery of other documents, uttering of forged documents and money laundering.
The Court, presided over by Mrs Rosemary Baah Torsu has admitted the MP to bail in the sum of GH¢3.5 million with four sureties, one to be justified. The other sureties are to be of sufficient means and independent.
The trial has been adjourned to December 16.
Mr Francis Xavier Sosu, who represented the MP prayed the Court to admit his client to bail because he was a sitting MP.
Mr Sosu said he did not see anything in the facts of Prosecution relating to the charge of money laundering.
The Defence Counsel said at the right time, they will prove their innocence relating to the charges.
He said because the MP was a family man and had a fixed place of abode and should be granted self-recognizance bail but this was declined.
Mr Sosu said the civil aspect of the case was before another court and that they were on the verge of settlement.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sylvester Asare, who led the Prosecution, did not object to bail but prayed the Court to attach conditions to the bail such that it would compel the accused to appear in court.
Mr Asare said the complainant was Alexsie Kwasi Fosu, Chief Executive Officer of Prefos Company Limited, and that between April 2016 and January 2017, the accused collected the cash of $ 900,000 or equivalent of GH¢3.5 million for the sale of 2.8 acres of land at Roman Ridge.
The prosecution said the complainant reported the matter to the police, which launched investigations and established that sometime in 2016, a witness in the case led the MP to the complainant and introduced him (the MP) as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Museum and Monument Board (GMMB).
Mr Asare said the accused told the complainant that the GMMB has indicated its intention to sell 2.8 acres of its land at Roman Ridge through an affiliate company known as Heritage Fund for Arts and Culture (HFAC).
The prosecution said police investigations established that the accused represented to the complainant that HFAC being affiliated to GMMB has been charged by the Board to oversee the sale of the said land.
Mr Asare said the accused also told the complainant that the land was going for One million dollars including a facilitation fee of $100,000.
The Prosecution said based on that, the accused demanded and received cedis equivalent of GH¢3.5 million in 2016.
Mr Asare said the accused upon receipt of the money, indicated in two separate letters addressed to the complainant that the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) of HFAC had unanimously agreed to grant the 2.8 acre at Roman Ridge to him.
The Prosecution said Police investigations later disclosed that the accused was not the Board Chairman of GMMB as he claimed.
Mr Asare said “further, Police investigations also showed that HFAC was incorporated by the accused in May 2016 in order to mask fraudulent activities”.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has vehemently denied interfering with the work of the Special Prosecutor Mr Martin Amidu . Mr Amidu resigned from his post on Monday, November 16 citing interference by the President as one of the reasons.
He said in his letter to the president that “It is essential for me to state for the purpose of the records, and contrary to public perceptions, that my appointment letter was received on 5th February 2020 (almost two (2)-years after my appointment).
“The copy addressees made no efforts to honour any of the conditions of appointment in terms of emoluments and benefits of the appointment ever since my warrant of appointment was issued on 23rd February 2018 to the date of my letter of resignation. The Deputy Special Prosecutor has also not been paid any emoluments since her appointment, and there is the need to redress that situation for her now that I am out of the way.
“The events of 12th November 2020 removed the only protection I had from the threats and plans directed at me for undertaking the Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions anti-corruption assessment report and dictates that I resign as the Special Prosecutor immediately.
“I should not ordinarily be announcing my resignation to the public myself but the traumatic experience I went through from 20th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020 when I conveyed in a thirteen (13) page letter the conclusions and observations on the analysis of the risk of corruption and anti-corruption assessment on the Report On Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions and Other Matters Related Thereto to the President as Chairman of the National Security Council caution against not bringing my resignation as the Special Prosecutor with immediate to the notice of the Ghanaian public and the world.
“The reaction I received for daring to produce the Agyapa Royalties Limited Transactions anti-corruption report convinces me beyond any reasonable doubt that I was not intended to exercise any independence as the Special Prosecutor in the prevention, investigation, prosecution, and recovery of assets of corruption. My position as the Special Prosecutor has consequently become clearly untenable.”
But Mr Akufo-Addo in a statement reacting to these allegations said “Your accusation of interference with your functions simply on account of the meeting the president held with you is perplexing.
“In exercise of what you considered to be your powers under Act 959, you had voluntarily proceeded to produce the Agyapa Report.
“The president had no hand in your work. Without prompting from any quarter within the Executive., you delivered a letter purporting to be a copy of your report to the president.
“The purpose of presenting a copy of the Agyapa report to the president is decipherable from paragraph 32 of your letter to the president in which you indicated that you hoped the report will be ‘used to improve current and future legislative and executive actions to make corruption and corruption-related offences very high-risk enterprise in Ghana’,” the president said in a statement responding to the accusation against him by Mr Amidu who resigned from his post on Monday.

A delegation from the family of late former president Jerry John Rawlings led by the former diplomat, Ambassador James Victor Gbeho, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, paid a courtesy call to the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama and the party leadership.
The visit was to officially inform the opposition leader of the demise of the party founder, which occurred at the Korle Teaching Hospital on November 12.
According to the former Diplomat, although the leadership of the party had already been informed of eventuality that had hit them, the family thought it appropriate and respectful, to fulfil what tradition demanded.
“We have come here purposely and mainly to fulfil customary tradition of informing President Mahama of the sad passing away of our colleague and brother, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings . “We know that you have already received confirmation of the news of the fallen of the giant baobab tree in front of our house but all the same, we thought it appropriate and respectful to fulfil the tradition that we have as Ghanaians and as Africans, of informing H.E as possible,” Ambassador Victor Gbeho said.
He continued: “At the moment, we are only informing those who need to be informed.”Rawlings family and Mahama
Mr Mahama in response to the delegation said: “We understand the complexities of the situation considering that he belongs to his family and that he also belongs to the state because he was the former president and then he belongs to a party. And so there must be a mixes between the three interests to be able to give him a befitting send-off.”
According to him, the party together with him, understand that as a former President, the state will take a leading role in whatever funeral arrangements that will take place and so they stand in readiness to pay their respect in every manner appropriate, knowing who their founder was.
No one-week ceremony There will be no ceremony to mark the first week of the passing of former President, Jerry John Rawlings , his office has announced.
The office of the late former president says such an event will not be held since Rawlings is from the Ewe ethnic group who do not observe such activities for the dead.
A fire outbreak which started around 2:00am on Wednesday, 17th November 2020 at the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, Odorna Market Circle has destroyed the market center.
In an interview with Wonder Magist, DFM host said that, According to some eye witnesses who were at the scene during this period, they saw a smoke coming from the middle of the market but they assumed it was just someone doing that and within some few minutes the smoke exploded into fire which spread almost everywhere in the market.
According to reports by Wonder Magist, No deaths or injuries were recorded, however eyewitnesses say large quantities of goods of assorted nature belonging to traders were lost while fire personnel have had to battle the raging fire with all they have.
As at 6:00am the Ghana Fire Service has arrived and trying to quench the flames but it appears the incident is out of control.
Following the resignation of Martin Amidu from the Office of the special prosecutor, Honourable Kennedy Agyapong who was featured live on Adom FM’s evening program which takes place every Tuesday, made some claims and statements concerning Martin Amidu’s resignation letter.
He read out loud on the program a copy of the resignation letter which seemed to hold the reasons why Martin Amidu supposedly resigned from office. In the event of reading, he asked a very straight question which was directed to Martin; ” Why have you kept GH¢ 6.49million in your account since last year?”. Commenting on this question, he explained that the money was meant to be used by Martin Amidu to recruit 290 Ghanaian nationals and train them but instead he recruited only two individuals on a contract basis.
Following the statement, he also made it clear that he doesn’t trust the reasons Martin Amidu gave in respect to his resignation. “I didn’t understand at first but now I believe they are all lies”; he said.
Reading on from the copy he had in hand, he came across a passage which had to do with Martin Amidu failing to receive some keys from Kernel Oduro.
” Martin calls Kernel Oduro a messenger which shows no respect. You can never be much a greater person than Kernel Oduro. You are insolent, and because you are insolent, you could only recruit 2 individuals”. Following this statements, he ended by saying Martin Amidu is the problem if he keeps resigning from his positions in a corporate organization. He gave an example as to him resigning from the Office of the Attorney General and now resigning from the office of the special prosecutor.
