We Are Wise Now NPP Grassroots To Parliamentarians

The Eastern Regional grassroots communicators of the New Patriotic Party NPP have bemoaned the inability of their Members of Parliament across the Region to offer jobs to its supporters and how it is affecting party work at the grassroots due to the inaction of constituency executives.

The communicator’s organizer Abenbebom said the grassroots has tried on many occasions to be employed but ” anytime they go not even a single person to endorse the forms especially on the issues of car loan to the grassroots

He claimed they are wise now and the opportunity for grassroots to make a clear case and send a clear signal to many of the MP’s who had neglected the grassroots. The primaries are their power to choose the correct representatives

“You can give me a 5 kilo of rice and ghc50 as well but will vote against you because No Amount Of Money Can Buy Me. Abenbebom stated

Also, the framers of NPP party and Ghana constitution, as well as Democrats all over the world, knew that some MP’s when given the people’s power to rule and be in a comfort zone will rather neglect and ignore the people who toil for their leadership to serve this nation and their party manifesto promises

Abenbebom then advised the grassroots and delegates to change all those types of leaders who will not serve on their interest and neglect all those who go there only for their families and friends to the detriment of the party ,” let not entertain any form of begging, many of those had become tricksters ,let be careful.

” We have to take their monies and enjoy it and vote them out to serve as a lesson for others who are coming on boards or not even campaign for them during their primaries

Abenbebom finally thanked ALHAJI Opass and David Prah for their advice and supportive of the grassroots communicators’

Nigeria Army Troops Kill Top Boko Haram Commanders

The MNJTF and the Nigerian Armed Forces are in celebrative mood today and have been basking in the successes of their combined efforts of artillery and air bombardments of suspected hideouts of Boko Haram/ISWAP at the Tumbus of Lake Chad region that neutralized many including key commanders.

However, it was mourning and a monumental set back to the erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters hibernating at the triangular area.

Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa confirmed the development to Naija News in a statement on Friday, 20th September 2019.

“Reliable information coming out from the inner circles of the demented and criminal group’s enclave escaping to Sudan and Central African Republic, indicates that no fewer than 7 of their key commanders have been wasted by the superior forces of the MNJTF.

The neutralized commanders are said to be Abba Mainok, Bukar Dunokaube, Abu kololo, Abor Kime (said to be of Arab origin – likely their ISIS trainer), Mann Chari, Dawoud Abdoulaye (from Mali) and Abu Hamza.

All these were said to be commanders of various Tumbus controlling fighters before they were decisively dealt with and sent to the pit of hell by the military bombardment. Although these names may not be real and may likely be nicknames, nonetheless, it is an unprecedented feat to our quest of clearing the remnants of these criminals in the area. Consequently, efforts are ongoing to get more information on their true identities.”

The statement added that “The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai had through the Theatre Commander Multinational Joint Task Force and the Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE commended the troops for this great efforts and enjoined them to do more.”

  • COCOBOD SIGNS AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH PROCESSING FACTORY.

COCOBOD SIGNS AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH PROCESSING FACTORY.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has signed an agreement with the China General Technology (Group) Holding (Genertec) for the establishment of a cocoa processing factory in Ghana.

The factory, which will be located at Sefwi-Wiawso in the Western North Region will be operated by COCOBOD and Genertec through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Implementation of the plan for the construction of the cocoa processing factory will involve the China International Development Operating Agency, with funding from the China Development Bank (CDB) and the Sino-African Fund.

The project holds great potential to contribute significantly to the improvement of the Ghanaian economy, and particularly, for the local economy of the Sefwi-Wiawso area, said the Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Hon Joseph Boahen Aidoo, in his address to the Chinese delegation led by the country’s Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Zhou Wang. The signing ceremony took place at the Cocoa House in Accra.

The project, Hon. Aidoo added, also has the potential to grant Ghana access to the huge Chinese market of well over a billion people. There lies a unique opportunity to reach several-million consumers of cocoa made and processed in Ghana.

“This is a project that is going to benefit both countries,” he said with some glee. “It is going to be of mutual benefit; a win-win situation. Ghana will benefit and of course, China will as well benefit.”

Hon. Aidoo said, the project will also aid in COCOBOD’s drive towards and also increase local consumption and more importantly, it fits into the agenda of the present government, that Ghana should increase its share of the USD$ 100 billion global cocoa industry through value addition to cocoa beans.

“It is a matter of taking a bigger part of the global value chain, worth over USD$ 100 billion annually. Once the comprehensive feasibility studies are completed, we are looking forward to the commencement of the project.”

On his part, Mr. Tan Xinghui, the Vice President of Genertec said the company already has some foothold in the Ghanaian cocoa sector spanning some 15 years, however, the establishment of the cocoa processing plant commences a new model of corporation between Ghana and China.

Although China has invested in other sectors of Ghana, they are yet looking for other opportunities where the two countries can cooperate for mutual profit and a deepening of relations.

“We regard Ghana as the regional hub”, Mr. Tan Xinghui added. “We believe that our portfolio in Ghana is not yet enough, so, basically we are looking forward to expanding our investment here in Ghana and that is why we are here today.”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of COCOBOD, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyeman, was grateful for the co-operation and was hopeful that the project will commence in due time to achieve the objective of expanding the consumption of cocoa in the country.

He was positive that the mutual relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened.

  • Exercise your voting rights – NCCE Boss to Ghanaians

Exercise your voting rights – NCCE Boss to Ghanaians

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Josephine Nkrumah has called on Ghanaians not to stay away from voting ahead of the 2020 elections.

Some Ghanaians have expressed apathy towards the 2020 general elections; a situation that has been partly blamed for the low turnout in the ongoing voters’ register exhibition exercise.

However, speaking at a forum dubbed ‘Making Democracy Work for the People’ which was organized by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana, the NCCE boss said staying away from elections is not the solution to the problems of democracy.

“I use every opportunity to always encourage the participation of Ghanaians in democracy by exercising their voting rights. If we want a vibrant democracy as a people, we shouldn’t say that because we’re not getting what we want, we’re not going to vote. Now more than ever, we should vote.”

“This is about multi-party democracy. If you feel that you are not getting what you want from either of the two dominant parties, there are other options for you. There are other parties. So we should begin to interrogate what those other parties also present and determine whether this is a better option or not,” she stated.

The voters’ register exercise experienced low patronage and a number of challenges at the various registration centres.

    JOSEPHINE NKRUMAH

Constituencies like New Juaben North and South in the Eastern Region faced the challenge of not having the needed materials supplied from the EC headquarters, thereby hindering residents from checking their details on the first day of the exercise.

A similar incident happened at the Tamale Central constituency of the Northern Region.

The Director of the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Ghana, Dr. Lloyd Adu Amoah, at the event, urged political parties to focus on development rather than the privileges that come with being in power.

“When power is won, the next thing is the spoils of power; who gets what within the party. Our parties lose focus on those big questions; futuristic questions. So I think that there needs to be a reconfiguration of the overall mindset and philosophy in terms of our parties in Ghana,” the Director said.

EC extends voters’ register exhibition exercise

The Electoral Commission has subsequently extended the voters’ register exhibition exercise.

The exercise started on September 10, 2019, and was expected to end on September 17, 2019.

A statement signed by Acting Director of Public Affairs at the EC, Sylvia Annor said the exercise will now end on September 20th, 2019.
