Weija residents living in fear after murder of unidentified woman

Residents in Weija a suburb of Accra are living in fear after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a bush.

The body was discovered by a man after incessant complaints about a foul stench in the community by residents.

“People have been complaining about a bad odour in the area for a while now. Someone traced the odour only to find out that someone had been killed and the body left to rot in the bush,” Assemblyman for the area, Ayitey Blankson told Starr FM Friday morning.

He added that “it appears, the incident occurred a week ago before the person was sent to find out, we couldn’t even bag the body.”

Ayitey Blankson further noted that the deceased has not been identified yet since she is not a known resident of the area.

He also urged landlords to properly get to know potential tenants before accommodating then as the Weija area has become a hideout for criminals.

“I have told landlords to always investigate their tenants before accepting them because some of them are robbers. As at now we do not know where the deceased is from, we have asked around the community but to no avail.”

The Assemblyman further called on Ghanaians to assist in identifying the deceased.

“I’m appealing to the public, if anyone’s daughter has been missing for the past two weeks, the person should come here and check.”

“We won’t legalise Okada Business”- Bawumia

The Vice President of the Republic Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has now clarified that the ruling government won’t legalize Okada operations. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) was in a panic mode moments after their main political rivals, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) promised to legalize Okada business as captured in their manifesto.

As a result, it came to light that the NPP was doing everything possible to legalize the operations of the motorcyclists to obviously score cheap political points.

However, Bawumia insists the movie is a risky one considering the nature of their work hence there will be no legalization whatsoever. He assured the riders of a better alternative of empowering them to purchase brand new cars assembled in the country so they engage in a safer business.

Dr. Bawumia said this on Thursday in Accra which saw VW and BlackIvy signed an MoU to embark on the production of affordable homes and affordable cars for the Ghanaian people.

  • If NPP Wins, I will Support my Husband in transformation- Empress Gifty Adorye Promises

If NPP Wins, I will Support my Husband in transformation- Empress Gifty Adorye Promises

Award winning Gospel musician, Empress Gifty Adorye says she is so far satisfied with government’s work for the Creative Arts industry however, there’s still room for more work to be done.

There have been mixed reactions among showbiz personalities especially after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched their 2020 manifesto a couple of weeks ago.

While some have chastised government for not fulfilling most of the promises made to the Arts industry in their 2016 manifesto, some have also commended them for a good job done.

One of such people is gospel singer Empress Gifty who in an interview with Hitz FM’s Noella Kharyne Yalley said save for a few qualms, she was generally satisfied with the NPP administration’s contributions to the Creative Arts industry.

“For me I will say yes, I’m satisfied but there’s more room for improvement. Three years has passed and what I would advise the government to do is to focus on the creative arts. We’re losing a lot.

“We’re losing our integrity, the love, the passion because, you put in so much money, but you don’t get it back. Now people don’t buy CD’s, streaming seems to be the ‘ish’ now, so we need a structure or system that will work for us, our royalties, and certain things that can push us”

She also prayed for the President to take another “look at our industry again, and see what he can do to support us. I think he promised the industry a whole lot of things and I’m really praying that with the few months left to elections, he can do something”.

Early last year, Empress Gifty married Hopeson Adorye, the Deputy Director for National Security under the NPP.

When asked what she will do in her capacity as the wife of a government official to influence government to help the Arts, she revealed that she plans to “use” her husband who is currently contesting as a parliamentary candidate in the Kpong Katamanso constituency as a means to bring the needed change in the industry.

“Now my husband is an NPP parliamentary candidate for Kpong Katamanso, and I’m hoping and praying that the people will give the mandate to my husband.

“I don’t want to promise, but if my husband wins I’m going to use him to bring a little change. And I’ll be a bit bias towards my gospel people. We’re suffering, it’s very hard to go to the studio, bring out an album and promote it.”

Ayittey Powers however made it clear that he rejected the money because he considered the plight of Ghanaians.

I was there when Kenpong called me that I will be given GHC 100,000 and a car to join the 2020 NPP campaign but I refused the gesture.”

“I refused it because I’ve seen such money before and I will not think of just my stomach, I have to think of the problems Ghanaians are currently facing under this administration.” he stated in the video.

  • PPP Will Abolish BECE, Says Brigette Dzogbenuku- Asaase Radio

PPP Will Abolish BECE, Says Brigette Dzogbenuku- Asaase Radio

The 2020 presidential candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Brigitte Dzogbenuku, has promised to abolish the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) when voted to power.

According to her, the PPP government will ensure that students are educated from Creche to Senior High School(SHS) without a break for exams.

In an exclusive interview with Citi News, Madam Dzogbenuku said examination should not be the determining factor for the academic success of a student in Ghana.

“We will abolish BECE because every child must be educated at least to the SHS level…If everybody is educated to the SHS level and at least can read and write, Ghana will have a different kind of society where people are more informed and are more empowered. Examinations are not the only way to check people.”

“There can be regular assessment of the school and of the systems of how the teachers are performing and then the exam becomes the ultimate. We can’t use only exams to test kids because that is not the best test of a school or an education system.”

She stressed o the fact that her government would ensure that the  Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) is implemented to increase access.

“We will implement Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education to its fullest because the enforcers of that policy haven’t done their work well and that is why we see students loitering around without doing anything. We must also hold parents accountable so we can have the proper checks and balances in the schools to know which student is absent and why such a student is not in school.”

“First of all the government sectors must work. The education sector must also work and work efficiently to have an inspectorate board to make sure students who ought to be in school are in school and at the right time.”

Madama Brigitte Dzogbenuku was chosen as the flagbearer of the PP after their founder Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum declined to lead the party into this year’s election.

  • ‘Women Are The Properties Of Men, They Shouldn’t Be Given Freedom After Marriage’ – Man Sparks Outrage Online

‘Women Are The Properties Of Men, They Shouldn’t Be Given Freedom After Marriage’ – Man Sparks Outrage Online

A Kenyan on-air personality, Captain Kale has sparked outrage online after he said women are the properties of men and therefore should not be given any form of freedom at all right after marriage.

Captain disclosed this while reacting to a topic in which radio host, Maina Kagena asked women about the definition of freedom in marriage. “Ladies, when you tell your husband you want freedom in your marriage/relationship, what do you mean” the theme under discussion pointed out.

While responding, Captain Kale said giving freedom to women is just like handing a fully loaded gun to your enemy. “When I married her, I paid for her, hence me owning her. She should do as I say. Even her going to say hi to her parents needs me to think about it,” he tweeted.

Women are irresponsible human beings and they need to be guided every time. They can’t function without someone being hard on them. Giving women freedom is like giving a gun full of bullets to your enemy.

How Aseidu Nketia was given a hefty Slap

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu has recounted some difficulties he encountered as a student.

He may be popularly known as General Mosquito but he has revealed another powerful nickname that earned him a slap back in the days.

Mr Nketia has disclosed he was a brilliant Mathematics student and that got him the name Archimedes, the name of a Greek Mathematician.

“I was called Archimedes because I was good in mathematics but I suffered for it,” he said in an interview on Joy FM’s Personality Profile.

Being a brilliant and confident student, he always stood up to challenge his teachers in class, an action most teachers were not pleased with.

“It was one time in class five when a mathematics teacher marked me down in an exam but I was so sure the answer was correct and decided to rework the solution but I did not go to the teacher to challenge him,” he recounted.

“I took my own red pen and corrected the mark, an act my mates made noise about and that angered the teacher. He came to the class, removed his wrist watch and gave me a dirty slap which landed me on the floor,” he added amid laughter.

However, General Mosquito pointed out that did not deter him from challenging the status quo when not convinced.
