Aseidu Nketia Sends Strong Warning to Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings After Her Husband’s Death

The aftermath of the sad death of the former president of the republic of Ghana and founder of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Jerry John Rawlings is getting interesting despite most Ghanaians in a mourning mode.

The death of Rawlings came as a shock to Ghanaians, mostly the NDC members since their founder was fit and kicking after the burial of his mother and he showed no sign of weakness in him. There has been a book of condolence opened at the Accra International Conference Center for loved ones to bid the former president farewell.

After signing the book of condolence, the general secretary of the opposition NDC, Mr Johnson Assiedu Nketia, popularly known as general mosquito had a one- on-one interview with Accra based Adom Fm on their morning talk show dubbed, ‘Dwaso nsɛm’ where he sent a strong message to the wife of the late former president, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

During the interview, the host of the show, Jerry Forson asked the general secretary the chances of Agyemang Rawlings in the NDC after her husband’s demise and the reply he gave was should the wife of their late founder decide to dissolve her party the NDP to re-join the NDC, they will welcome her with open arms.

According to him, their door remains open to accept her and her party. He said they will even accept their main opponents, the New Patriotic Party if they decide to join the NDC.

“Our doors remain open. Even if it gets to a point and the NPP wants to join our party, we will accept them. Political party is a living organism, people leave and people join. The important thing is that the party will be seen to be growing when those who are leaving are fewer than those who are coming on board”, he concluded.

Meanwhile, the two vehicles involved in the accident have been cleared-off the road to allow free flow of traffic.

  • NDC Research Team Arrested In The Eastern Region

NDC Research Team Arrested In The Eastern Region

The current government has been branded by a section of Ghanaians including journalist for being intolerance. Accusations include the government aiming to win the upcoming December elections with violence.

The media including investigative journalist Manasseh Azure have in comparison confessed that they felt safe under the opposition government NDC than the current government the NPP.

Per observations and reports members of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), are arrested for little or no offense where as members of the governing NPP such as Hawa Koomson and Kennedy Agyapong walk freely for greater offenses.

The arrest of four persons conducting research for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region has heightened political tension in the area.

The four were arrested Saturday November 14, 2020 by armed Police officers led by the District Police Commander John Yeboah while in a community administering questionnaires.

They were, however, granted bail four hours after the intervention of the party executives.

Police also impounded motorbikes which they were using to move around.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Kwasi Lawer spokesperson for the Campaign team of the NDC in the Constituency questioned the basis for the arrest of their members conducting survey for the party.

    He said:

just as any other organizations like the media, students and the Civil Societies conduct surveys, we in the NDC also have that same right to conduct a survey and that was exactly what we were doing before the needless arrest by the police. We want to ask the police , when did conducting a research or a survey and campaigning become a crime in Ghana?

“The District Police Command who is said to be acting on the directives of the top NPP executives reluctantly granted our party faithfuls bail after several hours of being in police custody”

” the Police Command who is supposed to act professionally per the code of ethics of the service, has thrown the laws of the land to the dogs, forgetting that his allegiance is to the state and not the governing party”.

He said the NPP unleashed thugs on their party faithfuls during the voters registration exercise but the local police failed to act which has emboldened them to fester similar intimidation tactics going into the main election, therefore demanding, that Police come out with a roadmap to ensure peaceful election on December 7.

The Party, however, charged all members and sympathizers in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency “to remain vigilant and be security conscious due to what we have seen in Akatawia, when our opponents brought cutlasses to intimate us during the voter registration.

“We haven’t forgotten how some of our party faithfuls were unfairly transferred, some slapped and beaten at various polling stations by no less a person but the NPP MP Hon. Joseph Tetteh himself”.

The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Upper Manya Krobo, Bismark Tetteh said the NDC may be forced to retaliate the NPP if the Police cannot be a neutral arbiter .

“NPP thinks they can only win this election through violence. We are ready for them.We are for peace of course we know we are winning so we don’t have issues to fight people of we are winning then we must ensure that there is peace however we are also ready for whoever wants to bring violence to Upper Manya”

However , the Upper Manya Krobo NPP has been reacting to this development accusing the NDC of inciting the people under the guise of survey.

“Yesterday some of their youth went to the villages precisely Odumata and they went there to ask the people whether if they vote for Hon Joe T and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo won’t there be a war and the people asked them are you here to campaign and cause confusion indeed the area became chaotic.

“Police had the intelligence and went there so they brought the guys who disguised under conducting research to the police station to write their statement. I was there ,nobody detained them, NPP have no time to follow them with their fallacies” Philip Kwaku Mamphey a stalwart of the NPP in Upper Manya said.

The Upper Manya Krobo Constituency is one of the hottest areas in this year’s election as the NDC pushes hard to recapture its long occupied seat snatched in 2016 by the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament Joseph Tetteh who is seeking reelection.

The Asesewa District Police Commander John Yeboah was however unavailable to respond to allegations of bias levelled against him.

These allegations suggest that some authorities of the Police force are in with the current government as they intimidate members of the opposition NDC.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7. The EC has promised a fair, transparent and peaceful election.

Parliamentary candidates at Anyaa Sowutuom promise improved roads.

Two Parliamentary candidates in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency have promised to provide improved road networks when voted into office.

They are Mr Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the National Democratic Congress, and Madam Joyce Larbie, the PC for the Convention People’s Party.

They made these promises at a Town Hall meeting when they took their turns to present their policies and programmes to the constituents, ahead of the December polls.

The meeting, organised by the Justice and Peace Commission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, brought together opinion leaders and electorates to share their views on issues of concern in the constituency.

Mr Allotey said he would provide basic social amenities including water, improved road networks, and drainage systems to help solve the perennial flooding in the area.

“As a member of parliament, you have the primary role to market the challenges of your constituents and lobby for projects to be done,” he said.
Mr Allotey, who is a banker, said he would establish an MP’s Credit Union for traders, especially market women, to help improve their businesses.

He said he would group the 13 electoral areas of the Constituency into three and establish an MP’s office in each of them, where constituents could lodge complaints and challenges.

Madam Larbie said if given the nod, she would implement a community skills training for the youth.

The apprenticeship training programme would provide the youth, especially those unable to further their education, with alternative skills in sowing and catering among other things.

Madam Larbie said she would introduce a constituency credit union to support the people, especially the aged.

She promised to lobby for road projects, drainage systems and provide water connectivity if she became the Member of Parliament.

Mr Ogochukwu Nweke, Vice President of Synergies Institute-Ghana, who was a guest speaker, entreated the electorates to be well informed on the duties and roles of parliamentarians so as to hold them accountable.

He said a lot of people were not privy to designated roles of MPs and the Central Government, thereby making some politicians to take advantage and make promises outside their designated roles.

  • Dela Coffie has promised to exposed the hypocrisy of Asideu Nkatia

Dela Coffie has promised to exposed the hypocrisy of Asideu Nkatia

Less than 25 days to the 2020 general election, it seems the close association of the late Jerry John Rawlings and some members of the National Democratic Congress have scores to settle.

The death of the founder of the National Democratic Congress has opened up a lot of worms within the party.

The new tension in the party happens to do with Dela Coffie a member of the NDC and the party general secretary Johnson Aseidu Nketia.

In a new post on his facebook page, Dela Coffie has promised to exposed the hypocrisy of the Asideu Nkatie the general secretary of the NDC over a mourning arrangement of the late Former President Jerry John Rawlings.

    He wrote:

We are grieving! And rightly so the family has requested for privacy at this difficult period. Then again, I feel like unpacking the hypocrisy of the likes of Asiedu Nkentia. I really want to, but my thoughts are just not coming together.I’ll certainly find my rhythm, and when I do, it will be very explosive.

In the meantime, the hypocrisy must stop. The attempt to cry more than the bereaved must also stop. And more importantly, those who think we’ll allow them to engage in political profiteering enterprise with the demise of President Rawlings must think again. Isn’t it even offensive to learn that those who consistently berated Rawlings over the last 12years, and called him “barking dog” are today claiming ownership of him as the founder of the NDC?

It has suddenly dawned on you to fight for the same Rawlings that you lots recruited puppets to publicly humiliate and talkback at? I shall return.

  • Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro Once again Exposes the Hypocrisy Among some Politicians in the Country

Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro Once again Exposes the Hypocrisy Among some Politicians in the Country

Leader and Founder of the Alabaster International Church, Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro has once again exposed the hypocrisy among some politicians in the country, who only wait for their leaders to die before they honor them.

Speaking at a Sunday Service sermon on November 15th 2020 from the Amponsah Memorial Temple of his church, Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro indicated that the late Papa Kwesi Amissah Arthur was never honored by his own party and Ghanaians but after his death close associates started showing sympathy to his wife Matilda Amiissah Arthur.

He adds that, after the hypocrisy became enough for Amissah Arthur’s wife, she poured out the anger in her. Prophet Dr. Kofi Oduro adds that same story befell the late John Evans Atta Mills, and now the late Jerry John Rawlings.

“I sat down on Thursday till today, I have still not posted any picture of Rawlings. How hypocritical can we be as Ghanaians from the church to the streets. Suddenly, we have become lovers of Rawlings at once.

It happened to Atta Mills, Papa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, and they are doing same to Jerry John Rawlings. They rubbished all the work of Atta Mills, and started ridiculing him him after six months, we are very hypocrite in this country is and its unbelievable.

You never regarded Rawlings and now you are pretending as if you loved him. You did not post his pictures when he was alive and now you are spreading it at if you love him. You pushed Amissah Arthur’s wife to the wall, and she came out to expose all your hypocrisy, and now you have started with Rawlings. This is sickness”. Prophet Kofi Oduro noted.

He added that, the situation is not only peculiar to the NDC, but all political parties in the country. Prophet Kofi Oduro is advising politicians to put a stop to that hypocritical behavior, and begin to honor their heroes whilst they are alive.

“We cannot wait for them to die before we praise them. Now we are going to see hypocrites. It is in all the political parties. It is a sickness in the entire nation. You cannot pretend to love the dead, when indeed you hated them in your hearts. Now we are going to name monuments after Jerry John Rawlings but when he was alive, nothing was named after him apart from that poor Rawlings park”. Prophet Kofi Oduro added.

  • Don’t bury Jerry John Rawlings at Asomdwe Park – Kyiri Abosom warns

Don’t bury Jerry John Rawlings at Asomdwe Park – Kyiri Abosom warns

Popular prophet and the leader of Ghana Union Movement (GUM) has cautioned the state and family of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings against burying the statesman at Asomdwe Park.

Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, told journalists that during a visit to Mr Rawlings to introduce his party sometime this year, the former President mentioned specifically that he did not want to the buried at that cemetery.

Asomdwee Park is Ghana’s first presidential mausoleum and the burial ground of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

“The day I visited him at his residence before he died, he told me something that I intend to pass on to his family and the state. He told me he is praying for me to win and that if I win and he passes away, I should make sure that he is not buried at the presidential mausoleum. He told me he doesn’t want to be buried there,” Osofo Kyiri Abosom said in Twi.

“Rawlings told me he wants to be buried at a different place. So I will tell his wife [Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings]. I even have a recording of this on video. I can show it to you,” Kyiri Abosom told Journalists after arriving at the Rawlings’ residence to condole with the family.

The GUM leader explained that although the late former President did not specify where he would like to be buried, his hometown in the Volta Region, in his view, would be a good resting place.

He said Mr Rawlings even joked that he will haunt him [Kyiri Abosom] if he allows his body to be interred at the presidential mausoleum.

Talking about his campaign, he said he has the charisma and courage to lead Ghana like Mr Rawlings did and urged Ghanaians to vote for him on December 7, 2020.

He described the late President as a selfless and courageous statesman.

  • NDC will bury Rawlings, Akufo-Addo must stop ‘hijack’ attempts – Asiedu Nketia

NDC will bury Rawlings, Akufo-Addo must stop ‘hijack’ attempts – Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says President Akufo-Addo should not “hijack” the burial activities of late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that the party would not be treated as a guest when it comes to the funeral arrangement of its founder.

“Everything about this funeral, so far, depicts an attempt by an opponent to hijack the funeral of the founding father of our political party, and we don’t think the funeral of our party founder ought to be organised somewhere, and we get invited,” he said.

He added, “We have directed all branches of our party countrywide to organise events that will give a fitting celebration of the life of our founder. We will participate (in the national funeral) but that will not stop us from organising our own thing.”

According to the NDC’s General Secretary, the president of the country and flagbearer of the NPP has failed to honour the late Rawlings as the founder of the opposition party in his commiseration to the bereaved family.

“We were sorely disappointed that Akufo-Addo, even in issuing a statement of condolence, refused or failed to recognize the fact that President Rawlings was the founder of the NDC.

“It is against all the different practices we have been engaged in, in the past, as far as the death of prominent members of the two political parties is concerned,” he added.

His comments come after the demise of the first president of the Fourth Republic, Jerry John Rawlings on November 12, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after contracting the deadly Covid-19.

After the demise of the founder of the party, an NDC delegation led by John Dramani Mahama visited the Rawlings’ family to share their condolences and also discuss the way forward.

Several political parties including the NPP and the NDC have suspended all campaign activities in honour of the late President.

President Akufo-Addo has also declared a 7-day national mourning period during which all flags will fly at half-mast in Mr Rawlings’ honour.

He has also tasked the Chief of Staff and the Rawlings’ family to work together and complete plans for the burial of the late head of state.
