    MP HANDS OVER THREE RELIEF PROJECTS

    Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, member of parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency who doubles as the deputy minister of Education incharge of Technical And Vocational Education And Training(TVET) has handed over two  water storage systems with overhead tanks to Old Tafo Akim And Kukurantumi Akim CHIPS compounds. Attached to Kukurantumi Akim CHIPS compounds are two seater water closet place of convenience(Toilet facility) to  promote quality health delivery.

    Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo then proceeded to Anweabeng, a local community within her constituency to hand over a gari processing factory fitted with three machines and a storage space. This she said, will help to build their local gari industry of which they have been struggling to build.

    “The first one was Old Tafo CHIPS water storage system to foster health delivery, and with that of Kukurantumi CHIPS Compound, there was no toilet facility so the need to provide them two seater water closet with an overhead tank for the staff and patients who visit the facility.

    The third facility to be handed over is a livelihood project for a farming community, Anweabeng. They are predominantly cassava farmers with gari making as their source of livelihood. I have donated three gari processing machines and renovated an old building to house their productions” Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo.

    Mrs Joana Akyere, superintendent nurse, Old Tafo CHIPS Compound, upon receiving the water storage system, thanked honorable Gifty Twum-Ampofo for coming into their aid and promise the facility will make a very good use of the storage system to improve quality health delivery. She further pledge to adopt a proactive mentainance culture for the water storage facility to last longer.

    NADMO BOSS PULL DOWN DEATH TRAP AT TECHIMAN

    Mr Eric Asiedu  Techiman municipal NADMO BOSS together with his staff, assembly Members and opinion leaders of Anyinabrim a suburb of Techiman in the Bono East Regional capital have pulled down a public toilet which has been a death trap in the area for long  time.

      In an interview with journalists after the exercise ,Mr Eric Asiedu said his office will embark on a tour to monitor and access various public toilet facilities in the area to pull down similar ones which can cause havoc by collapsing on children and other people which he said won’t look unconcern  for it to happen .

     He again charged various officers to emulate his steps in order to curb any future disaster since NADMO’s  core mandate is to prevent and sensitize people on bad practices that can cause disaster.

    Finally Mr Asiedu said his office would embark on routine risk assessment to access various public toilet facilities in the Techiman Municipality immediately  in order to prevent any looming danger.

    The Nigeria Higher Commissioner, His Excellency Oluferi Michael Abikoye has added voice to the hot issue concerning Nigeria Boarder closer and has explained that,  Their Boarder Closer is not permanent.

    Moreover, His Excellency revealed the Nigeria Boarder closure is temporal and it has to do with some crimes across the Boarder which is into two forms, economy sabotage and security .

    Furthering, His Excellency Oluferi Michael Abikoye gave more insight on the Boarder closer and said ,the Nigeria Government has invested into rice manufacturing  but people smuggle Same Rice products into Nigeria and not only that but smuggling of petroleum products , Agricultural products ,Arms and ammunition also contributed to the Government to instruct men to close it down but fair enough , Ghana is the only country the Government of Nigeria has agreed and has set up a team specifically for Security and for a trace to make it able  to look into the situation Of trucks that belongs to Ghanaian for a peaceful business processes .

    Finally he touched on how Nigerians are tagged as criminals and charged Ghanaian Media and the security agencies to tackle criminals as criminals and avoid attaching Nationality, color or race to them .

    DEPUTY MINISTER LAUDS GOVERNMENT SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS

    The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister Hon Samuel Nuertey Ayertey Teddy has laud President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for his social intervention and policy programs such as Nabco, free SHS, YEA, Youth in afforestation etc which has really help most of the youths in Ghana to become   responsible citizens.

    He made the call when NGO’S in lower manya Municipal (Manya klo state) meet on a forum titled NGO’S MEETS AND GREET Organized by AYA AFRIKA an N.G.O based in Canada at ESIGN COLLEGE OF HEALTH at Kpong in the Eastern Region.

     He appreciated the NGO’S effort of helping the Youths in developing and has really reduce the burdens of government responsibilities.

     Hon.Teddy pledge that his government is ever ready in Support of every project this N.G.O’s wants to do.

    The crucial first leg tie between Asante Kotoko and FC San Pedro in the final playoff round in the CAF Confederations Cup has been ditched following heavy rainfall in Kumasi.

    The rain picked up from the first half but both sides played through until the end of the first half which ended goalless at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

    The rains picked up at closure and made the pitch soaked up and not friendly for a competitive football game.

    Following tests by the match officials, they took the decision to call off the match after they had consulted with the match commissioner for the day as well as both captains for the respective clubs.

    It is understood that Kotoko will host the replay at the same venue on Monday, October 27, 2019, at 15:00GMT.

    They will be gunning for a good results against FC San Pedro to ensure the second leg which will be played in Cote d’Ivoire becomes easier.

    Ace broadcast journalist, Florence Oppong Kumi, popularly known as “Akosua Kumi show Sister”, has been enstooled as Mmreku Adontenhemaa in her hometown, Dormaa Aboabo number 4 in the Bono Region.

    The ace broadcaster who work at the national radio station, Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation GBC branch in the Brong Ahafo Region (Radio BAR).

    The 52 years old is one of most popular presenter in the region who is easily to be recognised by her Bono dialogue when she begins to speak, she is the programs manager of radio BAR, news caster and a host of other social programs as well as a master of ceremony (MC) under outdoor programs.

    At a beautiful ceremony, the occasion was however, witnessed by movers and shakers of the Ghanaian media in the Bono region region trooped to the durbar grounds to catch a glimpse of the enstoolment of the vociferous radio presenter.

    Aside the media personalities who attended the ceremony in their numbers were politicians from both side of the political divide namely; National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party(NPP) among others. 

    Also Chiefs, elders and people of Dormaa Aboabo under the auspicious Barima Okogyeatuo Agyemang, Dormaa Adontenhene and Mmrekuhene of Dormaa Traditional area were in their colorful Kente clothes to grace the occasion.

    Speaking to the Journalists after her enstoolment, Show Sister  showed  gratitude to  the chief and elders of Mmreku as well Dormaa Adonteng and also promised to do her best to push developmental projects to the town.She was given a stool name as “Akosua Kumi Sasraku Sradaa I, Dormaa Mmreku Adontenhemaa”.

    Nana Kwaku Siaw who was the 2nd  national best farmer in 2004, the CEO of Kumah Farm’s and Training Center and also the Nkosuohene of Anwomaso Traditional Area in the oforikrom constituency of the Ashanti Region  is pleading to the government of Ghana led by Nana Akufo Addo and his Agric Ministry led by Dr Afriyie Akoto and other authorities to help the farmers with processing and storage facilities to avoid post harvest losses and also expand productivity in the country.

    Speaking to Nana Kwaku Siaw, he disclosed that, farmers appreciate the government for their effort to support Farmers in the country, but the government also need to help the farmers with processing and storage facilities so that the food crops does not get spoil and also, the youth will not get discourage in the agric sector and it will also create job opportunity to reduce unemployment rate in  Ghana.

    According to Nana Siaw, some crops like Cashew, orange, water Mellon ,plantain and others always get spoil  because there is no storage and processing facility thus discouraging the youth to involve themselves into the farming activities.

    Nana Siaw therefore is appealing to the government for immediate support to agricultural sector in the country.

    In a related development, the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh, has also reissued new directives that intend to check unprofessional police malpractice in the country.

    Police officers have been ordered to desist themselves from all forms of harassment on Ghanaian roads, which is a good news for the Ghanaian transit trade which has been saddled by police harassment on transit truck drivers who ply the Ghanaian transit corridor.

    And although several efforts have been initially put in place by the joint cooperation of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Ghana Shippers Authority and Borderless Alliance to eliminate the practice, the phenomenon it is reported to persist.

    The President of the Ghana Institute of Freight forwarders, Kwabena Ofosu Appiah said the new directive to check police indiscipline is admirable but feared that, like many other past interventions it’s impact would dissipate over time.

    He called for a robust mechanism to ensure that enforce ability of such directives lead to the desired results.

    “Overtime what level of introspection has been done. What mechanism is in place for constant evaluation otherwise it will be like other directives that we heightened and fade out over time,” he stated.

    The Residents of  Duase  within Manhyia North Constituency of the Ashanti Region have express their disappointment in their member of parliament Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah for not doing what  will benefit the people in the communities in the constituency.

    According to the residents, the community lacks basic social amenities like roads network, bridges, streets light etc.

    Speaking to the media, residents lamented that the youths in the community are jobless and nothing has being done to curb unemployment

    They  are therefore urging their MP, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah that, they find no interest in the ‘DIALOGUE WITH PARLIAMENT’ program that he initiated but rather he should solve problems in the community.

    Central Market Kumasi : 54 shops damaged.

    A dawn fire has swept through about 54 shops at the French Line section of the Kumasi Central Market, destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

    According to some victims, the fire started at about 2am on Sunday from one of the container shops and spread to other structures.

    Items including empty sacks, cosmetic products as well as food ingredients were burnt in the fire.

    Although the official cause of the fire is not yet known, affected shop owners are pointing to an electrical fault.

    Firefighters were said to have had a hard time dousing the fire as they struggled to get access through the congested marketplace.

    Some affected shop owners have already begun rebuilding their structures. Some of the  revealed.

    “I sell empty sacks. As at when we heard of the news and got to the grounds, the fire was really serious. We weren’t allowed to go close because of how dangerous it was. By the time they quenched the fire, our shops had been burnt to ashes. We are appealing on government to support us financially to rebuild our shops,” a gentleman said.

    “I was called around 1:30 am to rush to the market because my shop was on fire. This is the first time the market has been set on fire for the fifteen years that I’ve been working here. We can’t really tell what the cause is. I sell drinks and water. I had three fridges in there and one costs about 20million cedis,” another lady lamented.

    Meanwhile, officials of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO have said they will collaborate with the fire officers to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

    Roland Oduro who is in charge of operations at the Manhyia South sub-metro for NADMO said: “we gathered about 54 shops were destroyed by this fire. It’s really bad that this thing has to happen at this time of the year. Per our investigations, we have two different causes. Some are saying power fluctuation; others are saying faulty metres. But we’ll collaborate with the Fire Service and get to know the real cause of the disaster.”

    The former Brong Ahafo Regional public affairs director and a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Cobby Acheampong has disclosed that the flagship program of the President Nana Addo Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) has no future and it will end its beneficiaries in tears.

    According to Mr. Achampong, the program recently celebrated its one year anniversary while some members of it have not been paid for about 8 months.

    Mr. Achampong further explains that if you come to the Bono Region, NaBco has no office and if the beneficiary has any grievances to make where will they send it to? .he asked

    Assembly members of the Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai municipal have held a press conference to express their displeasure about the reduction of their Ex-Gratia by the minister of local government.                                                        

    According to the assembly members, the municipal assembly has already agreed on budget approval of Ghc4000 per each assembly member meanwhile ministry of local government has also issued directives that District assembly are to pay their members Ghc1000, Municipal Assembly is also to pay their members Ghc1500 and Metropolitans  are to pay GHC2000 as their Ex-Gratia and the assembly members see it be on call for.                                                      

    They also said again that it is an insult and they are asking the minister of local government how much does minister or members of Parliament take home as Ex-Gratia. They are telling the minister of local government to change his statement as soon as possible.

    The Asokwa Municipal Director of Agricultural in the Ashanti Region, Madam Martha Naa Ashai Armah, has congratulated the Asokwa Poultry & Livestock Farmers Association for launching their organization on the theme; ‘Akuafuo Ye Hwe Ewiase.’

    Madam Martha Naa Ashami advised the farmers that they should exercise patience because she as a director of agricultural in the municipality will fight hard for their dreams to come to broad daylight.

    Madam Martha added that it was her dream to organize all the farmers across her checkpoint to form an association like this, she made mention that; Asokwa Municipal Assembly has over One Hundred (100) vegetable farmers, four farmers base group which consists of maize, rice, mushroom, snail and many more.

    Meanwhile the Chairman of Asokwa Poultry & Livestock Farmers Association, Thomas Donkor appeal to the government of the Republic of Ghana led by H. E.  Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the minister for food & agriculture headed by Hon. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and the entire management of all the farming sector to come into their aid.

    ATEIKU TO BENEFIT FROM PALM OIL FACTORY

    The DCE of Wassa East District Hon Wilson Arthur has assured the residents of Ateiku in the wassa East district of the Western region the establishment of the Palm oil factory before the end of December 2019.

    He stated that land and equipment for the commencement of this gracious project are handily ready hence construction will kick off on November 2019.

    He lamented that full production will so follow in December 2019. Hon Wilson Arthur further unfolded that the project would offer employment opportunities for the people in wassa East district.

    The DCE disclosed this during an interview with DFM MORNING SHOW HOST AGYABA. He added that the factory would not be built only in Ateiku also two factories will be built at Daboase the district capital and Atobiase respectively.
