    Would a second lockdown be neccessary?

    Ghana is one of the countries that has low infection rate since the outbreak. The government has given the green light for schools to fully resume across the country. Currently, Ghana has seen a sudden increase of covid-19 cases with ghana recording more than 200 covid-19 cases daily.

    The information minister kojo oppong- nkrumah has hinted a possible lockdown in restrictions to be enforced if the cases continues to rise. He also urged the public follow all covid-19 protocols put in place which is wearing your nose mask in public, washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and then practicing social distancing to be able to defeat the virus.

    President Akufo-Addo addressing Ghanaians on the measures to Curb the Covid-19 pandemic said, “the virus has not changed…and the reduction in compliance with preventive protocols account is increasing.”
    He announced that there could be a possible second lockdown should the coronavirus situation in the country continue to worsen.

    The address, the 23rd by the president, also spelled out measures that government was putting in place to curb the spread of the virus. “Consensus from stakeholder consultation recommend a phased approach to easing anti Covid-19 restrictions,” he said.

    Ghanaians are extremely apprehensive about whether or not a second lockdown will be introduced as a way of curbing the rapid spread of coronavirus in their country.

    Some Ghanaians however feel that the increase in the coronavirus cases can be the sake of political rallies and other things which was going ahead of the December elections.

    “Is this going to affect our business ?” These are some cries from the public…

    We the Concerned Citizens of Anloland have noticed that since the President has announced the partial lockdown in some parts of Greater Accra and Kumasi, some people are now traveling to their hometowns which may be a disaster in the spread of COVID-19 in our communities where the pandemic is believed yet to reach.

    We are humbly calling on the families who are receiving these visitors to quarantine them in their own interest and the community.

    We are also calling on our dear drivers to kindly adhere to the spacing restrictions in their vehicles during this time of this deadly pandemic.

    Again, we are appealing to the local council of churches to kindly form prayer warriors team and be praying on behalf of the nation and her Citizenry.

    Our securities are not left out, we are also appealing to them to also help in the prevention of this corona virus by patrolling in our communities to enforce the social distancing and mass gathering in our restaurants and bars.

    The information vans, we are appealing to the MMDCEs to support them with fuel for them to be put into use and Educate the public on the corona virus.

    In conclusion, we will like to congratulate Anlo Traditional Council, Our Paramount Chief Tɔgbi Sri lll for speaking to his children on pandemic and his support to the communities. Our health workers may God bless you abundantly for the great work you are doing in this difficult times.

    The deputy communication director of the biggest opposition party National Democratic Congress NDC in the Abuakwa north of the Eastern Region who has expressed confidence in the country’s preparedness for the coronavirus outbreak has called for lockdown in the Eastern Region

    He said, since the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ordered a two week” cessation of all movement” in the key cities Kasoa, Kumasi , Greater Accra and Tema in a bid to ward off on explosion of cases in the country most of the people moved to the region, the region has so far recorded 24 confirm cases which we the NDC calling for lockdown

    “Enforcing the restrictions in sprawling megacity Koforidua has been a mammoth challenge as millions live crammed into overcrowded slums and rely on their daily earning to survive

    “We acknowledge the current advice the government has given on social distancing but, in our view,this is not stringent enough there should be a lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19, said Alhaji Abdul Waha

    Alhaji Abdul Wahab said ” we can make decision to meet moments ,this is a moment we need to make tough decision,he said this is the moment where we need some straight talk and we need to tell people the truth,it is time for us to understand that we are caring for the health of the region

    ONE ARRESTED FOR FLOUTING LOCKDOWN DIRECTIVES AT MADINA.

    About 35 year old man has been arrested by Citi guards and handed over to Madina division of Police for flouting the restricting directives outlined by the president today at madina zongo junction.

    It is clearly outlined in the 14 days lockdown directives that only those who trade in food commodities should open theirs shops in various market place in the various areas affected by the lockdown.
    But this young man refused to comply with the directives and went ahead with his normal day business as usual.

    According to the Citi guards they first approached the man and asked him to lock his shop when they were surveying the market, so after that they decided to check on him again and they met him with the shop still opened so they arrested him and handed him to the madina police.

    Human Rights Activist and Public Interest Lawyer, Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu encountered the situation so he pleaded with residents in the various lockdown areas to follow the directives.
    He also urged the security officers to be formal with the residents to prevent any misfortune.
