    Fire guts Kantamanto market

    News reaching Ghana Guardian indicates the popular Kantamanto market in Accra is on fire.

    The cause of the fire is not immediately known to this portal but we understand personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are already at the scene to salvage the situation.

    The fire, according to reports, started from a place close to the Agbogbloshie Market.

    This incident happened hours after fire ravaged part of the Koforidua market in the Eastern Regional.

    Shops and various items were consumed by the inferno believed to have started around 10 am.

    The blaze was reportedly caused by an electrical fault on the main power supply pole of the electricity company of Ghana which spread to the nearby shops.

    It’s been two weeks since fire guts portion of the first floor of GCB Bank Liberty House Building, Kantamanto in the Central Business District of Accra.

    GCB Bank Liberty House branch at Kantamanto on fire

    Fire on Saturday gutted the GCB Bank, Liberty House branch at Kantamanto in Accra.
    The cause of the fire, which started on the first floor of the seven-storey building is unknown.

    According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 8 am Saturday morning.

    As of midday, there were about six fire tenders at the scene and fire service personnel were trying to keep the fire from spreading.

    Personnel from the Ghana Fire Service are currently trying to douse a fire that has swept through the GCB Bank tower at Kantamanto in Accra.

    In a video fast circulating on social media, smoke can be seen coming out of the storey-building.

    Although the cause of the fire remains unknown, a crowd has gathered at the scene as security personnel and the fire service try to bring the situation under control.

    The Police barricaded the road leading to the area.
