  • Bruno Fernandes Has ‘Lost Faith’ In Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Bruno Fernandes Has ‘Lost Faith’ In Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United star man Bruno Fernandes has reportedly ‘lost faith’ in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, amidst claims the club have started talks with Mauricio Pochettino.

There have been questions about Solskjaer’s credentials as United manager as far back as him taking the job in December 2018, initially as an interim, but those questions have got louder recently.

The 6-1 loss to Spurs before the international break led to lots of criticism of the manager. Fernandes was taken off at half-time in that game and there were claims he’d argued with Harry Maguire and was unhappy with the manager’s tactics.

Speaking on ‘The Transfer Window’ podcast, Duncan Castles said those reports were true and added he’d been told by a source close to the player that Fernandes doesn’t believe Solskjaer is ‘strong enough to manage the squad’ or ‘have the capabilities to push the players they have forward.’

Those claims have also been backed up by Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes, who said it was true that the former Sporting midfielder had ‘lost faith’ in the boss.

Castles added that the former Cardiff City manager wasn’t the only one who has caught the ire of the midfielder, with Fernandes also annoyed at the club’s transfer business.

The podcast says that the 26-year-old doesn’t believe the summer window was good enough to help United get back to competing with the top of the table clubs.

Whilst Fernandes was reportedly replaced during the Spurs game for arguing at half-time it led to more love from the fans, with many calling for him to take the captaincy from Harry Maguire.

Solskjaer probably agrees with the player on that point, with reports that he didn’t get any of his top targets last January or this summer.

The former Sampdoria midfielder changed the team’s fortunes last season. When he arrived at the end of January there was little change of a top four finish but his eight goals in 14 games helped lead them to third.

Despite that third place finish Solskjaer has continued to be under a lot of criticism from the fans, even before the defeat to Spurs.

The nature of the loss to Jose Mourinho’s team, the man Solskjaer replaced, the lack of his top targets, the talks with Pochettino and now the noise from the Fernandes camp suggests there isn’t long left for the Norwegian.

Crystal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew, is making a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to be patient with their expectations of the Black Stars since they are now putting the shape of the team together.

This call of his comes on the massive uproar by football-loving fans that greeted their abysmal performance against Mali on Friday where the Black Stars lost by three goals to nil (3-0).

Speaking ahead of their second international friendly clash with Qatar this afternoon in Turkey, Jordan Ayew said he believes they are poised to put up a spectacular performance, way better than what they did three days ago.

He added that he knows very well how Ghanaians expect them to be on top of their game but there are new faces in the Black Stars squad who will need adequate time to jell.

“It’s a game where we have to do better. We weren’t good enough in the first game, we all know, we are all professional players and we all know we didn’t` do well against Mali and we need to do better and at least start by having a good solid performance and after, the results will follow.

“But the most important thing is to have a very good performance as a team and obviously the result will follow. But also, let’s have in mind that we are building a new team and it’s going to take a bit of time so we need to be a bit patient.

“We need to make sure that we don’t repeat the mistakes that we did a couple of days ago we make sure we don’t repeat them tomorrow and make sure that we put in a solid performance to redeem ourselves.”

They are ready to play for Ghana Mohammed Polo urges new players to convince CK Akonnor

Ex-Ghana international, Mohammed Polo has indicated that the new players in the Black Stars team should convince head coach C.K Akonnor that they are ready to play for the national team when given the chance to feature in the Qatar friendly today.

Last Friday, the Black Stars were in action against the Eagles of Mali and embarrassingly lost 3-0 at the end of the 90 minutes.
On the Matchday, most of the new players invited for the friendly match had the opportunity to play.

After an unimpressive showing, Mohammed Polo believes they should convince Coach Akonnor that they are ready for the Black Stars when the team faces off with the Maroons of Qatar today.

“He should reassess the players he has. These are new players in the team. It is only 3 players who are known faces there. That is Partey, Jordan, and Dede. The rest of them should convince the coach that they are prepared to play”, Polo said in an interview with Class FM.

The former Hearts of Oak coach added, “That is why he called them. He has confidence in them. That is why he asked them to come. But if the performance will be the same thing like what happened in Mali then I think the old guys should come back”.

The Ghana friendly match against Qatar will kick-off at 15:30GMT later this afternoon and will be played at the Titanic sports stadium.

GHANA 0-3 MALI: CK Akonnor Explains Why Ghana Failed in the Match

The Black Stars head coach has opened up on why his side was hammered by the Eagles of Mali in an international friendly on Friday.

Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has blamed lack of teamwork for Ghana’s disappointing performance against Mali.

The four-time Africa Cup of Nations Champions suffered a painful 3-0 defeat to Mali in an intentional friendly staged at the Emir Hotel Sports Complex in Turkey.

“I won’t blame the players for the defeat but the key thing which resulted our loss to Mali was that the team was not organized,” Akonnor told Adom TV

“The players didn’t know themselves because most of them were debutants and even the first time they’re playing together.”

“We trained for only two days and there was lack of understanding as well. These are the few things which affected us during the game”

“Mali didn’t play anything extraordinary but they were an organized side which handed them the victory”

  • Andre Ayew Advices Thomas Partey on the Black Stars Captaincy

Andre Ayew Advices Thomas Partey on the Black Stars Captaincy

Ghana captain Andre Dede Ayew has hailed the leadership qualities of Thomas Partey and has backed the newly signed Arsenal to be his successor.

Ayew believes Partey and Richard Ofori have  proven over the years on and off the pitch to be named as deputy captains for the team and they have what it takes to deliver.

I think they are grooming them for the future, I think Thomas (Partey) has been in the team for five years now, since 2015. So, he is gradually getting there, he has proved his worth in the national team and also at club level”, he said in an interview….

“I am talking about on the pitch and also outside the pitch, he is becoming more and more matured, becoming somebody that we can rely upon off the pitch also. So, I think that giving him a responsibility like this, is giving him the status to understand that the country and the team count on him a lot, not just now but also for the future. Because he is a very good and talented player who knows how to play the kind of football that Ghana want to play”.

The Swansea City star also advised the newly signed Arsenal midfielder who has been tipped as the next captain of the team to be ready to deal with the huge load that’s comes with the position.

“I think for him its something good. I have been there before; he has to know that it’s a heavy position. We have good and bad moments.  He has to take the knocks when its bad and take the glory when it’s good. But I think he is up to the task and will do well as my deputy”.

Thomas Partey was named as the first deputy captain, followed by goalkeeper Richard Ofori has the second deputy captain.

Gareth Southgate Must Once Again Remind England Stars Of Their Responsibilities

The Manchester United’s Captin was found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and the attempted bribery of police officer hours after being included in Southgate squad.

Football was placed in a privileged position by the government, the premier league playing a starring role in the response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Gareth Southgate has warnedhis England stars to appreciate what it means to represent their country after he dropped Mason Greenwood and Phil Forden to send a “ message following their last month”.

Manchester United forward Greenwood and Manchester city midfielder Foden were sent home after breaching Coronavirus regulations.

Southgate left the youngsters at his squad for the forthcoming friendly against Wales and Nations league matches with Belgium and Denmark.

Southgate revealed he had already told both players they would not be included this time around before they left Iceland last month.
The England boss also said he will talk to his 30 strong squad ahead of the upcoming game about the importance of the upcoming game about the importance of representing the country when called on to do so.

“What we found in the last camp was lots of new players coming in,” he said.
“So I think that maybe as a reminder when you have got lots of new players that you have to be a little more… not assuming that people are going to understand how you work and pick it up from the rest of the group.

“But I think always you have to work at culture. It never is embedded forever. It’s constantly evolving. The team group is constantly evolving, as players come and go.

“So you have always got to keep affecting that, keep addressing that and we will discuss the shirt, what it means to wear the shirt and some reminders on how we work – but that’s not a case of reading the riot act.

“That’s a case of asking the players what sort of team they want to be involved in.”

Black Stars: No local Players in Akonnor’s Latest Squad

Black Stars coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has snubbed local players in his latest call-up as the national team regroup for Ghana’s upcoming assignments.

Akonnor’s side are preparing for a friendly game against Mali next month before playing their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Sudan in November.

Ghana have not played in a competitive game since November 2019, and will play the Eagles of Mali on September 9 in Antalya, Turkey, as part of the team’s preparations for the AFCON qualifier.

The Ghanaians were scheduled to play Equatorial Guinea three days later, but the Central African team have pulled out of the game, citing new travel restrictions imposed in their country. Equatorial Guinea’s borders are closed and flights are suspended due to new COVID-19 rules.

Akonnor has handed debut call-ups to France-based Alexander Djiku of French side Strasbourg, Yakubu Mohammed of Azam FC (Tanzania), Benson Anang of MSK Zilina (Slovakia), Emmanuel Lomotey of Amiens (France) and youngster Kamal Deen who plays for Danish side Nordsjaelland.

Pyramid FC’s John Antwi makes a return to the team on the back of impressive performance in the Egyptian top flight.

Turkey-based Bernard Mensah also makes a return to the team for the first time in five years and will seek to impress Akonnor who is yet to play his first game since he was appointed new Coach of the Black Stars last February this year.

Ghana top Group F of the AFCON qualifiers with six points following victories against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in November 2019.

Asante Kotoko Players Should Be Seen As Celebrities – Nana Yaw Amponsah

Wikipedia defines a celebrity as a condition of fame and broad public recognition of an individual or group, or occasionally a character or animal, as a result of the attention given them by mass media.

Come to Ghana, any school-drop out who has managed to buy Instagram followers citing Akuapem Poloo, Efia Odo and Co. are all claiming celebrity status – SMH.

Riding on the above, it’s no surprise that Nana Yaw Amponsah who happens to be the incumbent CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has postulated that every player of the great football club deserves celebrity status.

“If a Kumawood actor is tagged as a celebrity, why can’t Kotoko player be in the same tag? Our players must get an endorsement from big brands”, Nana Yaw Amponsah said on Kumasi-based Opemsuo 104.7FM.

On records, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, also known as Asante Kotoko, is a professional football club from Kumasi, Ashanti Region in Ghana West Africa. Their home grounds is based at Baba Yara Stadium in Amakom, Kumasi. They compete in the Ghanaian Premier league.

Ah well, do you think our footballers especially players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko deserve to be called celebrities? Personally, Nana Yaw Amponsah’s candid opinion is simply apt as far as peeps like Serwaa Amihere, Wendy Shay, others who are not adding up to national development are regarded as Ghanaian celebrities.

  • Wim Kieft believes Myron Boadu will be a hit at PSV

Wim Kieft believes Myron Boadu will be a hit at PSV

Former Dutch striker, Willem Cornelis Nicolaas Kieft, popularly known as Wim Kieft has stressed that he believes teenager Myron Boadu will excel at PSV Eindhoven.

The 19-year old had a memorable campaign during the 2019/2020 football season where he massively impressed for his AZ Alkmaar outfit in the Dutch Eredivisie and in the Europa League as well.

While Myron Boadu continues to be linked with a move to top clubs in Europe this summer, Wim Kieft appears to be backing a switch to PSV after noting that the highly-rated forward will be a hit.

“In the Netherlands, Boadu can really only do one club and that is PSV. But they probably cannot or will not pay him. He really likes to walk and he does a great job at AZ”, Kieft told Veronica Inside.

Having played for Ajax and PSV in the past, the former Dutch striker is predicting a move to the Eindhoven club instead of the team in Amsterdam in case he decides to stay in the Eredivisie when he leaves AZ.
