  • Kennedy Agyapong Opens Up On The Sad Truth Akufo Addo Will Face in His Next Government

Kennedy Agyapong Opens Up On The Sad Truth Akufo Addo Will Face in His Next Government

Finally, Maverick Lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong has said the truth that President Akufo Addo will go through in his next government.

Moving forward he admitted that it will be a hard time in his second term because his party has a slim majority in Parliament.

The Electoral Commission has given the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 137 seats with the NDC having 136 seats with one seat belonging to an Independent candidate.

The President during his victory speech said the people of Ghana have come to the realization that there is the need for two leading political parties to work together hence the slim margin between the NPP and NDC in the number of seats.

But Kennedy Agyapong who nearly lost his seat to the National Democratic Congress(NDC) parliamentary candidate thinks otherwise.

MyNewsGH reported that according to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, “the President will suffer in his second term as President because previously, the NPP had majority of the seats and we could vote for all bills to go through. Look at the number of bills we passed in Parliament? It was because we had majority”.

He noted that most of the party’s Municipal Chief Executives played contributory roles in ensuring that the NPP loses its seats because they openly paid monies and supported NDC candidates against candidates presented by the NPP.

Kennedy Agyapong indicated that a list of such people will be sent to the President so that they are taken out of his government.

  • Ursula Owusu Jeered And Booed at by Ablekuma West Constituents

Ursula Owusu Jeered And Booed at by Ablekuma West Constituents

At the sound of ‘Kpa kpa kpa away’, a performer trembles with fear and disappointment because he or she knows the time to take a bow is up as failure to adhere could result in him or her being pelted with missiles.

If the same rule applies in politics then Ursula Owusu-Ekuful , the Member of Parliament-elect for Ablekuma West should be concerned about her future as some of the constituents handed her a treatment similar to how an audience drives away a boring and uninspiring performer.
In a viral video which was recorded on election day, some constituents are seen jeering and chanting ‘away away’ at the Minister of Communications.

Conflicting reports on the video suggest that it was filmed before the declaration of the results while others say the incident happened when she was making her way to a polling station in the constituency.

Ursula Owusu polled 37,363 out of 69,353 votes to retain her seat as the lawmaker representing the people of Ablekuma West.

Her closest competitor Rev. Kweku Addo of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) followed with 30,733 votes.

In 2016, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful recorded 34,376 compared to 20,976 by Diana Obenewaa Twumwaa of the National Democratic Congress .
The reduction in victory margin has been interpreted by some people as a dwindling in the popularity of the Communications Minister.

  • Joe Ghartey to Face Court Over Alleged Fraudulent Electoral Victory

Joe Ghartey to Face Court Over Alleged Fraudulent Electoral Victory

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Joe Ghartey is standing on the brinks of electoral dispute as his return to Parliament faces legal action over alleged massive electoral fraud.

The MP for Essikado Ketan had earlier been reported to have lost the seat to NDC’s Grace Ayensu Danquah, but things took a dramatic turn at the 11th hour as the a 3 person contest turned to six on a different ballot paper to claim victory for the long-time Parliamentarian.

Although three persons contested in the elections, the EC published an artwork on its website with the result of six candidates. It, however, deleted it later and uploaded a different one.

In the process of fighting back to see a clean system, it has been detected that the MP through the help of the Electoral Commission(EC) won the seat through the back door as two separate set of ballot papers were used in the the election.

Three people contested the seat but a second paper used in the fraudulent declaration saw faces of six people on the different ballot sheet.

This has dented the image of the EC as many pro-opposition Facebook groups including NDC TV and some commentators are sharing images to claim that the Commission published results for six parliamentary candidates for the Essikado-Ketan seat when in fact, only three people contested for the seat.

In her reaction to the suspected fraud denied her first chance in Parliament, Dr Grace Ayensu has threatened to go to court to seek redress.

She also accused the EC officials of swapping figures in the NPP’s favour, confirming that the Electoral Commission indeed shared an Essikado-Ketan parliamentary results document with results for six supposed candidates although only three people contested in that election.

  • Election 2020: NDC’s claim to have won parliamentary majority false – Nkrumah

Election 2020: NDC’s claim to have won parliamentary majority false – Nkrumah

The government has described as “false” claims by the main opposition John Dramani Mahama, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flag bearer John Dramani Mahama that they have won majority of parliamentary seats in the just ended December 7 polls.

According to the government,John Dramani Mahama

Addressing the media on Tuesday evening [8 Dec 2020], the presidential candidate of the NDC, Mr Mahama said the NDC’s analysis of the results show that the biggest opposition party has won the majority of seats in Parliament.

“We thank the electorate for giving us a working majority in parliament; 140 seats in Parliament, which is a majority and no attempt should be made to subvert that.

“I’ve looked at the results we’ve collated so far and I’m excited, I’m happy with the results; we won in 10 regions out of 16 and the Ghanaian people have expressed confidence in us,” Mr Mahama said.

But reacting to this at a press conference few hours later, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said Mr Mahama’s claim is false.

Mr Nkrumah said: “For the first time, a candidate, a presidential candidate is claiming his party has secured parliamentary majority.

“That claim by the candidate to have won a parliamentary majority is false.

“Anybody who has followed Ghana’s electoral process knows that we have returning officers at the 275 constituencies that is different from the returning officer for the presidential elections.

“These returning officers collate the results and make a formal declaration of who has won the constituency.

“The Ghanaian media is littered across all 275 constituencies and their collation centers. You are the ones reporting this election. If indeed anybody has won 140 in Parliament by now you will know.

“So the claim by Mr Mahama that his party has won parliamentary majority is false…so it is important that at this point in time that claim be shot down so that the Ghanaian public, some of whom will be going to bed, the international community listening doesn’t get that idea that Mr Mahama’s party have won parliamentary majority.”

  • Confusion hits Mahama’s voting process in Bole Bamboi

Confusion hits Mahama’s voting process in Bole Bamboi

John Mahama Vote In Bole Bamboi. There was near confusion at the polling center in the Bole Bamboi constituency where the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama voted on Monday, December 7.

The mix-up occurred after one of the security guards of Mr. Mahama who had registered in the same polling center with him had his name missing from the register leading to his inability to vote.

Mr. Mahama told journalists that these were some of the issues the NDC raised against the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of the polls but nothing was done about it.

“One of my security guards, I registered here with him and during the exhibition, we checked his name.

“We got here today and his name is not there and so I don’t know if it is a generalized problem but it is too early to make an assessment. We are waiting to find out what the presiding officer will say.

“We hope that they can rectify this. These are some of the little things that we kept complaining about,” Mr. Mahama said.
