Yvonne Nelson, A Diva To Emulate – Producer David Owusu

In the early stages of my movie-making career as an executive producer more than a decade ago, one of the very first top movie stars I was opportune to work with was and is the ever gorgeous, business-minded, and straightforward Yvonne Nelson.

Initially, my first impression of her personality was the bluntly
rude and difficult to handle type but after our first encounter on the movie Deadly Obsession, which featured prominent actor Jim Ike, Nikki Samonas, the late Rev. Eddie Quophie amongst others, I then realized the sexy legged screen goddess was just fantastic and the best one can boast of in the industry.

I went on to cast her in my second movie WHO AM I which became a hit. Yvonne’s Tears, trials, and Pain continued.

Over the years, Yvonne Nelson has moved on from one success story to another.

Challenges such as facing a ban by the leadership in the movie industry in Ghana in 2010 and the tag on bleaching did not deter the actress-turned-entrepreneur from moving to greater heights.

By dint of hard work and perseverance, Yvonne Nelson, YN as I call her started producing her own movies.

Heels and sneakers, area code, fix us and many more are all top-notch movies produced by the sexy diva. Awards upon awards from different angles, appearing on BBC Africa, and having quite a number of movies on Netflix are some of the many achievements of the Venus Films discovery actress.

Most enviable among all her achievements are the establishment of @YNislands, a serene resort and a place to relax, and a first-class school by all standards located in East Legon Hills.

Knowing Yvonne Nelson for over a decade now, one thing I cherish most about her is the zeal to always stand for the less privileged in society.

I would not be surprised to see Yvonne Nelson working at the high office in the UN someday on humanitarian grounds and support.

  • Meaning of Moaning During Lovemaking

    Meaning of Moaning During Lovemaking

Lovemaking is a pure art. The satisfaction or excitement is practically a combination of physio-psychological effects. Just like a pressure pipe, one ‘burst out’ in unimaginable arousal that they had to moan. It is natural and very behavioral depending on the sexual experience of the person, sexual therapists have argued.

But this is more of a feminist response to a sexual activity, as only a few men do express these feelings during lovemaking. But before we continue let me held with some definitions of what moaning is.

Moaning is a prolonged, low, inarticulate sound uttered either in pain or some strong emotional gratification.  In lovemaking, this expression by your partners could mean two things and you need to pay more attention to it so you either reinforce what you doing that is causing it or you stop.

The anatomy of the female sexuality is more complex and has several nerve endings that gets stimulated during lovemaking. In fact, the sciences around it demonstrate the millions of neural activities are fired to cause that overwhelming sweet sensation for women to an extent they simply have to moan. It thus becomes involuntary [for some women], but for others its part of the foreplay getting their man turned on.

Women moan during sex to communicate to their partners they’re enjoying what they are doing. This could a right moment for the man to romp her the more and crystalize the sexual experience.

However, some are an indication of pain, uncomfortable of bored with their partner. Don’t even mistake every moaning by your woman to be a good signal!

“Police commend community members who volunteered their observation of the movement of neighbors and strangers alike to police, leading to the arrest. Soldiers are not trained to shoot above the knee – Boakye-Djan

    Boakye-Djan

A former Spokesperson of the defund Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) Major retired Osahene Kojo Boakye-Djan has waded into the arbitrary shooting of protesters in Ejura in the Ashanti Region, killing two persons and injuring four others.

he said the military manual on training its personnel does not allow for shooting above the knee in order to cause deaf in situations other than war.

He added that the military men deployed to disperse the unarmed protestors in Ejura seemed unprofessional to him because real military officers would have used tear gas and water hose in that endeavor instead of aiming to kill unarmed civilians.

Major (Ret) Boakye Gyan said it was highly unmilitaristic for a soldier to shoot young boys running away at the sight of the military men in Ejura and even if it came to the point of shooting there were certain precautionary measures to take before shooting as the military training manual dictates.

    Boakye-Djan

SEE ALSO: We have decided to Boycott IPAC

He, therefore, described the killing in Ejura as an “aimed shot” directed to kill rather than control the upheaval in the enclave.

Major (Ret.) Boakye Gyan posited that in his assessment the soldiers deployed to Ejura to control the crowd were not trained personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces. Because Ghanaian soldiers are trained to go and defend the peace in other countries so how can they fail in their own countries.

He has thus entreated the military to investigate the debacle in Ejura because to him he does not believe they were real soldiers.

In an interview with Yaa Titi Okrah on Onua FM’s Pae Mu Ka programme, he insisted that trained soldiers will not dare to behave arbitrarily in the manner exhibited in Ejura.

He was commenting on the back of the military shooting in Ejura which resulted in killing two persons and wounding four others in the process of controlling a protest in that enclave.

Boakye-Djan “What is happening in the country resulting in the castigation of soldiers and military personnel saddens my heart. For example, what happened in Ejura where the protesters were running away and were shot from behind, the manual does not allow that. You make sure you disperse them either using tear gas or water hose or those things but to shoot from behind knowing that they might die is highly unprofessional.

“In any case, if you had to shoot, there must be so many steps to take, you should not shoot from above knee level. What we witnessed was an aimed shot, sorry I have to use that term because their practice was not that of soldiers. I strongly believe the one who shot the civilians was not a trained soldier, he can’t even be a trained police officer”, the veteran officer declared.

Ejura: I didn’t call for Military assistance – District Police Commander

    Police

The Ejura District Police Commander, DSP Phillip Hammond has told the three-member committee that is probing the disturbances that occurred at Ejura leading to the death of three persons that he didn’t call for military support.

He said he only called for reinforcement and that did not mean that the Military must intervene.

Asked by a member of the Committee Dr. Vladimir Antwi Danso whether the Police lacked the capacity to control the crowd for which the Military stepped in, he said “We requested for reinforcement but it is not me personally as the District Commander who requested for the Military. I only requested reinforcement and they are the team that was brought to me.”

The Chair of the Committee who is also a Court of Appeal Judge George Kingsley Koomson, for his part said the media must accept criticisms from other members of the Ghanaian society

He said, inasmuch as the media have the right to criticize, others also do have the same right to subject their work to scrutiny.

His comments come after the Battalion Commander Lt Col Kwasi Ware Peprah said no media house has spoken to him on the disturbances that occurred in Ejura yet several reports have been filed.

“As we speak no media house has spoken to me as the Battalion Commander,” he said.

In response to what he said, justice Kingsley Koomson agreed with his concerns regarding the media and said among other things that we also have the right to criticize the media.”

Lt Col Kwasi Ware Peprah further told the committee that the military aimed not to kill anybody during the upheaval.

“There was no plan to kill anyone during the Ejura disturbance.

“The aim was not to kill, it was just unfortunate. If the aim was to kill then hundred people would have died.”

Meanwhile, Justice Kingsley Koomson has recommended that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) apply for plastic bullets to control the crowd in Ghana.

He rejected the use of live bullets to disperse the crowd since this can be fatal.

He said this when the General Officer Commander- Central Command, Brigadier General Josephs Aphour appeared before the Committee on Wednesday, July 7.

“I think the Military will put in an application for plastic bullets we are talking at human lives, don’t be applying fire live bullet,” Justice Kingsley Koomson said.

The committee was formed by Interior Minister Ambrose Dery following the gruesome murder of Macho Kakaa in Ejura over the weekend.

There was also a violent clash among the military officers and the youth of the area who were demonstrating in that town on Tuesday, June 29 following the murder.

This led to the death of two persons with four sustaining various degrees of injury.

Brigadier General Josephs Aphour while answering questions posed by members of the Committee said “My Battalion Commander called me the day of the incident that that was happening in Ejura, the indent that we all know.

“Then I had a call from the Chairman of REGSEC that the situation was getting out of control and that there was the need  for us at Operations Calm Lives  to  move inside, if not things will get out of control.”

‘I’d have asked MPs to reject $28M car loan If I had my way’ – Okaikwei Central MP

The Vice-Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Patrick Boamah says if he had his way, he would have asked his colleagues in the Chamber to reject the latest car loan laid in the House for Members of Parliament.

According to the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, the state should rather consider purchasing cars in a pool for MPs to use during their term in office and hand over to their successors when they leave Parliament.

He contends that the public backlash that follows the procurement of loans is unfair when it is the case that MPs have to pay back the money while their colleagues in other arms of government access these vehicles as part of their conditions of office.

The Minister for Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta presented a loan agreement for $28 million to Parliament for the purchase of 275 vehicles for members of Parliament.

2021 Population Housing Census Exercise Comes off in Ghana

2021 Population Housing Census Exercise Comes off in Ghana

The usual decade exercise is underway from June 27th night to 11th July 2021 in Ghana and all persons in Ghana will be counted.

The Population Census is the official enumeration of all persons in a country at a specified time. The enumeration also implies the collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of demographic, social, and economic statistics relating to the population.

A Housing Census is the official enumeration of all living quarters (occupied and vacant) in a country at a specified time. This enumeration also implies the collection, compilation, evaluation, analysis, publication, and dissemination of statistical data pertaining to these living quarters and the occupants, and this is done every decade(10 years) and the enumerators are under oath not to disclose any information taken from respondents.

SEE ALSO: Soldiers are not trained to shoot above the knee – Boakye-Djan

The Ghana 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) will consist of a population census and a housing census as one operation. The two censuses, though separate, constitute one statistical operation and they are not completely independent of each other because of the essential elements of each census which are common to both and are also with well-coordinated activities. In this way, the information on the population and living quarters can be more readily matched, and processing is facilitated, and extensive analysis can be carried out. This also makes it possible to relate to the housing census data, the information on demographic and economic characteristics of each household member that is routinely collected in the population census.

Ghana has conducted five post-independent population censuses in 1960, 1970, 1984, 2000 and 2010 with the last two consisting of both a population census and a housing census making the 2021 PHC the third Population and Housing Census to be conducted in Ghana. The 2021 PHC is designed to generate statistics that are essential for policy and planning purposes. It is therefore of the greatest importance to every person living in Ghana. The census information will be used for only statistical purposes and is not to be used for identifying people for taxation or punitive purposes.
